Adkins hails character of great comeback

NIGEL ADKINS
SAINTS boss Nigel Adkins hailed his side’s character following their second-half destruction of Aston Villa.
Adkins saw his side overcome a 1-0 half-time deficit by putting four past Villa during 45 thrilling minutes at St Mary’s.
He said: “We showed some good character in the second half after going 1-0 down.
“It was a poor goal to concede, let’s face it.
“We played some good football in the first half even if some passes went astray.
“We put on a really good performance, we controlled the ball for long spells and excited our supporters, who were outstanding.
“They’ve been unbelievable since I’ve been here and I wouldn’t expect them to turn as they know how hard we all work.
“We want to be in the upper echelons of the Premier League .
“We’re together as one and we showed that.”

I have never faltered in my faith in him, or Cortese, in running this club and team.
I know it's only one good result, but we know we should have got something from Utd and City. That was bad luck and naivety. We can put this right.
A good few more teams than just Villa are going to get a right thumping from Saints as the season progresses, home and away. There isn't a team in this league that is looking forward to playing us.
Bring it on.
I am also just so proud of Lambert. After years in the football shadows he is now, quite rightly, one of the most feared strikers in the highest league in the world. Hodgson will be forced to give him an England shirt in the coming months if he plays like this every week.
It's p*ssing down outside today but for the Saints the sun is shining brightly.

Can't praise Adkins enough after the stick he has been dealt with by the gutter press and rumour machine. Last week was a disgrace in some quarters.

Show me an English centre forward who should be ahead of him in the national team selection process and I will eat my red and pin striped shirt.

And the gutter press (the sun) are still saying he is favourite to be the first manager sacked and that there are rumours of unrest at SMS

After a hard start saints are up and running. Not in the relegation places and inspired with ramirez and lalana showing flair and panash in the midfield, add to that lambert and the qualities of our front line and you can start to ask yourself what are our ambitions at our mighty saints this season. People start saying if saints will survive they have to look at our ricky but we are not in anyway a one man team taking nothing away from the great man i might add. Another thing that all these mud slingers and opinionated suporters of other football teams need to realize is they still have to play these teams later and look at the possibility of droping points thierselves. We gave both united and city a run for thier money and honestly could have taken points from both of these teams if not for shiping goals that shouldn't have been in our net ( sorry kelv you have been a great inspiration). We have rectified this situation through steping up gazzaniga and bringing in artur borac giving both experience and competition for places. We have an amaizing acadamy that is the envy of many premier league teams and we have invested heavily over the summer. We showed with the 4- 1 beating of aston Villa that we are now gelled and our gelling as a unit.
So Adkins favorite for the sack is a lack of respect and to some people maybe some jealousy of our achievementas a club over this last few years.
And one more thing apart from playing the big boys they still have to play us as well and this is my informed opinion which i give back to them after the ones they have been constantly giving us.
I love my saints and nigel Adkins and our whole managment team are really upping the anti. Love the saints great to be a part of the saints family and after all the hard times its nice to enjoy our new era thanks again NA and NC
I love my saints
