Saints' fab four to take centre stage on Merseyside

Gaston Ramirez Gaston Ramirez

Saints could be about to unveil their very own 'fab four' in Merseyside tonight.

Before the serious action of facing Everton at Goodison Park tomorrow there will be a bit of light relief at the team hotel this evening.

Saints tradition dictates that each new member of the squad must get up and sing a song in front of their new teammates and at least a triple header is in prospect with Gaston Ramirez , Maya Yoshida and Paulo Gazzaniga all set to take the floor in the home town of the Beatles, possibly alongside Artur Boruc.

“He'll be doing a song ahead of Everton. I can't wait,” smiled star striker Rickie Lambert ahead of Ramirez's Saints singing debut.

“He thought he was doing it last weekend but he didn't get to do it because we travelled late.

“We do it at dinner at the away hotel. Maya and Paulo should be doing it as well - with three of them they can be a band.”

Sounds like they all have good fun, great team spirit.

Looking forward to my first away trip of the season. In three visits over the years to Goodison I've seen us concede 15 goals and score 2 - so I'm due a result!

Lets hope Everton don't have a point to prove after the Leeds result!

3 points in the bag will set us up nicely :)

First game I ever saw Saints play was away to Everton. Super Mac was the new manager but we were already relegated from the old Division One. Saints played a blinder and won 0-3. That's the precedent to remember.

My son who is Saints through and through is going with his girlfriend and her Dad tomorrow - he is so Everton that he used to make his daughter go to school dressed in blue on red nose day! Andrew is not sure how to behave when Saints score and win - knowing him he won't be able to help himself!

We can win this one with all that goal scoring power - like Brazil in the 70s we will just outscore the opposition!

Dino-Saw-Us says...
8:30am Fri 28 Sep 12

The outscoring method never worked that well for Blackpool when they were in the Prem!

Will be good to see if the Don digs deep in Jan for a Cb if we are looking good for a PL stay!

Talk of NA going seems to have stopped after that Amazing second half performace last weekend . . .

I haven't got any good memories of my trips to Goodison either. Scored 1 and let in 13!

Still, there's something about this team that tells me times have changed.

Hobson Snr has told some funny stories about what the team used to get up to on away trips. Jimmy Case used to sneak them all out of the hotel for a night on the lash.

Doubt the boys could get away with that these days, seeing as everyone has camera phones now. Wasn't a problem in the 80's.

Certainly do - works like a Shire horse and always wanting the ball. Good ankle niggler to have in the pack too. Good options up front and in Midfield now. Quite happy with CB situation - Cover at both FB positions I think is needed - January I am sure will see that happen.

Anyone for toffee?

SOMEONE BUY THESE TICKETS!

HAVE A ROAD-TRIP TO LIVERPOOL. YOU'LL LIKE IT - IT'S LIKE A BIGGER VERSION OF SOUTHAMPTON BUT WITH MORE PICTURES OF THE BEATLES AND A NICER SHOPPING CENTRE.

(Obviously I'm still going to sing to the people of Goodison that they live in a sh1thole, but I won't really mean it.)

Good Day Sunshine!

I haven't been to Goodison In My Life, but I do remember the 3-0 win the day we got relegated and thinking to myself, Misery; I'm A Loser; I'm Down.

Then there was 2005. Not A Second Time, thought I.

But that was then and, since the Revolution, it's been Getting Better and has all Come Together nicely. However, it sounds like the new Boys on The Night Before the match are in for A Hard Day's Night. As long as they stay All Together Now, they'll be alright.

Do You Want To Know A Secret? The Word is Rickie and Nigel don't like What Goes On in the Yer Blue side of Liverpool and are determined it'll Rain goals. So let's hope they Please, Please Me and all of us.

Jos, don't be a Bad Boy - NO PENALTIES! Oh me of little faith.
I should Have Known Better; of course, Yoshida is Fixing A Hole in the defence.

Well, it could be a Helter Skelter ride, but this team has Something about it, so I Will predict a win. Ask Me Why, Because This Boy thinks that Adam and Gaston will turn the toffees Here, There And Everywhere. So is 6-0 to Saints a bit optimistic? Yes It Is, so I'll say 3-1 Saints.

That's because, with Gaston's Help, Rickie no longer has to single-handedly Carry That Weight. So, by Sunday, they'll look back at the match and think about how wonderful it all was Yesterday.

Good luck to all the Day Trippers heading up The Long And Winding Road to the match. Unfortunately, You Won't See Me. What time will you all Get Back? And don't forget to post on here on Sunday to Tell Me What You See.

Ah! Here Comes The Sun. I'll Be On My Way.

Just add thoughts. Ive seen the best and worst of Kelvin. Was at Wedneday when he had a shocker and honestly thought he would never want to play for us again. And to be honest I wasnt unhappy about him eing dropped by Pearson when Wright was brought in at the end of that season. But what a come back. The loyalty he showed during the bad days. The way he always plys with a smile. My memories of him and Bart warming up will be stand out from that period. And onyone who watched the game at Leeds last season when he won us the pionts and the reaction of the other players said it all.

But now?

Its a shame but I think in NA we must trust.

Just watched "player" and the "goals vs Everton" over the years; great to see classic players like Parhars and Dodd banging in goals! Good times.

But personally think these are the "Best" times.

Chins up lads, lets celebrate the good times we are in.

Every interview I see of Nigel he seems like a "new" generation of coaches.

It's funny, in the business sector where I work- the best managers are guys like Nigel. They have a positive outlook, a long term approach and a "Take the hill" mentality. It's hilarious to me that some posters on here are so "short term" in their outlook. Nigel and Nicola have formed a "like-mindedness" that will see them stay together for a few years at least until they have achieved Europe and beyond-mark my words.

It absolutely models the "Good business," approach that successful businesses are using!

The Future is bright, the future is red and white!!

PS Visited Saints for the first time in 25 years at the Udinese game- didn't care about the score as it was a friendly; absolutely loved the fans, ground, atmosphere, and sense of it all!!

Red and White Army!!!!

The End!

Anyway, for the first time, 3 teams went down (not 2). Norwich & Manure had already been relegated and it was between us and Brum for the final place. Brum had to lose at Norwich, whilst we won at Everton.

Ex-Cherries (silly name) boss, John Bond was in charge of Norwich and promised to try to beat Brum. Had they done so, the 3-0 win at Goodison would have kept us up.

Alas, Brum beat Norwich 2-1 and we got relegated.

Well remembered Strasbourg. We were still up at half time and quite frankly it came as a huge shock when, a minute or two after the final whistle, the PA told Saints fans that we had been relegated (he didn't sing it and it was Ringo Star, btw).

On another note, and I am sure everyone has said this already, we are conceding an exact average of 3 goals per game. That seems to bring back memories, getting hammered at away grounds.
