FULL TIME: West Ham 4 Saints 1.

4:47pm

GOAL: West Ham 4 Saints 1 (Maiga 87): Substitute Modibo Maiga completes Saints' misery. This one is over.

4:32pm

GOAL: West Ham 3 Saints 1 (Noble pen 71): Fonte is penalised for handball. Noble tucks away his second of the match from the spot.

4:26pm

Double substitution for Saints in the 63rd minute. Lambert replaces Rodriguez and Mayuka is on for Puncheon.

4:24pm

GOAL: West Ham 2 Saints 1 (Lallana 61): Rodriguez swivels to set up Lallana who finishes crisply from inside the penalty box.

4:17pm

GOAL: West Ham 1 Saints 0 (Noble 47): Noble's chipped free kick from 35 yards eludes everyone and bounces into the far corner.

GOAL: West Ham 2 Saints 0 (Nolan 48): West Ham double lead straight away. Benayoun dispossesses Yoshida and squares for Nolan to tap in at back post.

3:43pm

Just minutes left of the first half now

3:34pm

Saints broke quickly and Puncheon had three untracked players to his right but didn't appear to see them as he tried a rollercoaster to maintain possession and then overhit a pass. Such a shame as that was a quick counter attack.

3:28pm

Still it is Saints who look the better side. Moving the ball well and containing West Ham's threat too.

The formation has been interesting - not so much the 4-4-2 that was expected with Rodriguez - who put a shot not far wide a few minutes ago - something of a lone striker with Jason Puncheon, Adam Lallana and Guly do Prado strung across behind him and Morgan Schneiderlin and Steven Davis as holiding midfielders in front of the back four.

3:26pm

Hooiveld involved at either end.

First a header from a corner is fielded by Jussi Jaaskelainen.

At the other end he is back on the line to clear from James Tomkins who headed goalwards after Boruc's punch.

3:18pm

It's been a fairly decent start for Saints. An early scare as Boruc's poor clearance found Carroll but his shot was blocked.

Saints are playing some nice football, West Ham far more direct.

Chances are at a premium.

2:57pm

The teams are out on the pitch. West Ham in their traditional claret and blue. Saints going with the Brazilian look - yellow shirts and blue shorts. Kick-off a few minutes away now. We'll have updates here throughout the match.

2:50pm

The players are disappearing back down the tunnel, having completed their pre-match warm-ups. Kick-off is now about ten minutes away.

2:42pm

Saints and West Ham met twice last season, with Tuesday night goal machine Jos Hooiveld netting vital strikes in each of the midweek evening matches. The centre half headed the only goal of the game at St Mary’s, as Saints prevailed 1-0, before his late effort at Upton Park ensured a 1-1 Valentine’s Day draw against the ten-man Irons. They proved to be vital strikes, as Saints held off West Ham to secure second place and automatic promotion, leaving Sam Allardyce’s men to negotiate the play-offs. Hooiveld will have the chance to continue his heroics against the east London club today, having been restored to the starting line-up. So far this season, the Dutchman’s goalscoring exploits have come at the wrong end of the pitch, twice putting through his own net.

2:12pm

The headline news is that Rickie Lambert has been dropped by Nigel Adkins, taking up a place on the bench. In his place comes Guly do Prado. Jos Hooiveld returns at centre half, with Maya Yoshida moving to left back. Artur Boruc makes his debut in goal. For West Ham, there are two changes. James Tomkins is in for Guy Demel, while Yossi Benayoun is in for the injured Ricardo Vaz Te.

2:09pm

FORM GUIDE:

Saints (last six, league only): L L L W L D

1:41pm

Well they have matched us because they signed a £12million player in Gaston Ramirez during the transfer window. We only have Andy (Carroll) on loan, and we paid a lot less than that, so I think that they have gone out into the market and spent big like we all have to. What I do think is that we have coped with the Premier League very well at the start of this season and I also think we had a group of fixtures that were less challenging than Southampton’s. From a Premier League point of view our experience is probably better than theirs so hopefully that will be a telling factor on Saturday. Our confidence is also very high because we have been very good at home. I am hoping to see the same kind of performance that I saw against Aston Villa, Fulham and Sunderland. If we play like that we will create opportunities and have a very good chance of winning the game.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce

1:37pm

SAINTS INJURY NEWS: Record signing Gaston Ramirez will miss the trip to Upton Park with a thigh injury. The £12m man is expected to be absent for another four weeks, having already been out for the last two. He will be joined on the sidelines by Frazer Richardson, who is also suffering from a thigh injury. Jack Cork and Danny Butterfield are both suffering with knee problems, while Tadanari Lee (elbow) remains out. Nathaniel Clyne is set to return from a dead leg.

1:37pm

WEST HAM INJURY NEWS: Defenders Winston Reid and Guy Demel are West Ham's main concerns. Reid (back) and Demel (thigh) will have to prove their fitness ahead of the match, while the Hammers will also be without Ricardo Vaz Te who has had surgery on his dislocated shoulder and is facing three months out. Andy Carroll came through England duty unscathed and is expected to start up front, while Raphael Spiegel will back up Jussi Jaaskelainen in goal, with Stephen Henderson beginning his three-month loan with Ipswich.

1:36pm

Good afternoon and welcome to the Daily Echo’s blog covering today’s Premier League contest between Saints and West Ham, at Upton Park (or the Boleyn Ground, should you prefer). Nigel Adkins’ men are going in search of their first away point of the campaign, as they bid to close the gap on their fellow new boys. West Ham, who went up via the Championship play-offs last season, already hold a seven-point advantage over Saints. Kick-off today is at 3pm, and we will have team news for you when it becomes available, as well as updates throughout the match.

Afternoon all. Be nice to get a result at the Boleyn ground today, especially as it will shut up all those mouthy Hammers fans on the various sites they inhabit who haven't got over the results from the equivalent fixtures last season. A festering sense of injustice seems to permeate all their ramblings, so a tasty hat-trick from Sir Ricky this afternoon would be well entertaining, and probably send one or two of them over the edge! Notwithstanding of course, that the three points up for grabs today will come in very handy. COYR!!

If Rickie has been taken off in the last couple of games because he's knackered, I suppose it makes sense to have him on the bench bring him on for the 2nd half. It also almost worked at ManCity.

I suppose with Fox missing, NA had to put someone in the side for the "fans" to focus their hatred on.
Cue Guly do Prado.

Is Yoshida left footed??? If so he may make a better left back than he did right back against Fulham. Can understand him being picked ahead of Ben Reeves, as he gives us more height at the back for the hoof ball tactics.

Good luck to them all and hope they give a performance to make us proud.

There is no way we are playing 4 at the back surely with that line-up... Surely if Guly starts then he is playing 5-3-2

Where the hell has Gazza gone? He made an excellent save against Fulham. I actually rate him. It's our defense that's worrying. Hardly the best time to be chucking on a new keeper. This team selection looks pretty awful to be honest but i guess we didn't sign enough players.

more 3-5-2 than 5-3-2 then I guess... Punch can hang wide on the left... Guly should be in his element today if that is the case,,, if he does not shine today he won't get a better chance to showcase his skills...

having watched the West Ham v QPR game I think 3 centre halves makes sense. We have the quality to break from the middle and are rubbish at keeping the ball in the middle.... so the formation is not a problem for me, Guly for Sir Rickie is brave though..... And by that I mean, very very sadly, a new management team that can keep us in the premiership.

I no longer believe Nigel knows enough to sort it out.
Tragically, after all he's done for us, he has to go and we need a premiership expert.
I understand your frustration but, from what I have seen, what bit of it can you blame on the managerial team?

Poor defending like that can't be 'unmanaged'. He got the first half right - with brave team selections and all was undone by hopeless defending.

At 2-1, we were looking for an equaliser and were far and away the better side ...... then Fonte turns from hero to villain. Do you think Nigel 'trained' him to do a stupid handball like that?

Why blame Adkins? It's the defence - and lack of protection. The midfield did a good job in the first half but fell well short in the second.

Possible
But who would be our left back?
more 3-5-2 than 5-3-2 then I guess... Punch can hang wide on the left... Guly should be in his element today if that is the case,,, if he does not shine today he won't get a better chance to showcase his skills...

Second half, before you could say Leeds and Poopey are scum, poor old Nigel was on the road to no recovery.

Do we blame him for a defensive meltdown in individual errors, that to me is harsh.
What is clear to me is that we do not have a squad of defensive players that as a unit are producing the goods to keep us in the prem and the manager has to be accountable for that.

its good to keep faith. but we now need 3 points from 6 ( excluding ) the top four games which is a tall order..... We have had 3 keepers in 8 games. We are playing centre halves in full back positions, our best player is starting on the bench, we are loosing games on substitutions.... the list goes on. NA is making mistakes and if we stick with him we will go down, thats pretty obvious but maybe thats not a reason to remove him. I am not calling for his head.... but we have to be realistic about what can be achieved while he learns his trade.

The only reason Harry took us down is because Rupert Lowe would not let him control the team in the way he wanted, and would not let him bring in the players he wanted. On top of that Clive Woodward was put into the mix and Harry could not work with him.
Given the freedom Harry would be a great manager for the club and a few wins with him would turn around the majority of fans perceptions of him

The only reason Harry took us down is because Rupert Lowe would not let him control the team in the way he wanted, and would not let him bring in the players he wanted. On top of that Clive Woodward was put into the mix and Harry could not work with him.
Given the freedom Harry would be a great manager for the club and a few wins with him would turn around the majority of fans perceptions of him
Yeah but what exactly can Harry do with this team? We have Championship defenders at best. It's not like Harry would step in and instantly sort everything out. We went for attacking talent in the summer and now it is costing us dear. In any case, I doubt Harry would get on very well with our chairman.

Just a thought, with Rickie on the bench, we lost that bit 2-1. With him on the pitch, we lost that bit 2-0.

I'd be starting with Rickie, too, but we have a squad and I'm miffed that so many 'supporters' are so quick to praise certain players and get at certain others when it's far more complicated than that.

Just saying.
you can't compare the 2-1 to the 2-0 as goals lead to goals etc etc head drop.... you know the score. The Manure game showed me that Nige is not up to this, or someone else is pulling the strings...We either accept we went up a year early and let him have the experience he needs as we drop down OR we really need someone who A. picks the team themselves and B. knows his best 11 players.
Yes, but you know EVERYTHING, whereas I'm not even worthy of responding to you, let alone arguing with you.

You are right that the players are responsible on the pitch but its Adkins fault we have many of these players. They aren't up to playing in this division. Adkins should have sorted the defence out with more competition and better players for a start. That IS Adkins fault.

Clyne was off the pace
Losing to a very average team by 4 goals has to be the final straw!
That first half possession with Rickie would have given us a half time lead.

If, as some posts suggest, team selection is really down to NC then NA's position is untenable and under these circumstances should resign before being sacked to preserve his reputation. If team selection is purely down to NA then he has to turn things round very quickly. to justify the siging? I have seen a lot of Saints fans on here and other sites calling for Boruc to start every game since he started (not saying your one of them), can't have it both ways, Lose Lose situation for the manager there. Yes Yoshida isn't a full back and can't play there but no one wants Fox at LB.. so give Shaw a go? obviuosly NA doesn't think he is up to it yet, and he has shown that he isn't scared to play one of the youngsters, so that must be the only reason. who should play LB then? regardless if he is our highest scorer or not no manager will start a player who is not match fit as it is a waste of time. Jack Wilshere is on the bench as he is not match fit. I no he has been out for a long time but it is the same principal

We all are grateful for what Nigel and the team have done.We all want him to succeed. The fact is (with no sentiment) that we only just made automatic promotion by skin of our teeth. We were starting to fall a part at the back late on in the season(ie Blackpool away Reading at home) we needed quality signings at the back early on (ie during the close seasons)who is responsible? Not Nigel he was always saying the backroom staff are working hard to sign players. But that was after the summer ended.Too late!
We also have a manger who is honest likeable and loved by the fans but does seem that he doesn't know what to do make it improve!
Changing a manager now would make things worse. He needs help maybe to bring another experienced assitant might help.
The players must also stand up to be counted.
The bottom line is we need a system that is not going to leak goals and 4 3 3 is not working.
Will NC wait much longer? In my opinion I think Nigels days are numbered not that I would be happy about it as I think it would mean going back to drawing board with a new man with new ideas for the team to take on board. Nigel does need to have a plan B but if he insist (as he has )that there will no change then I feel he will be gone by Christmas.Sorry but it will happen!

Whilst accepting your argument that once on the pitch NA has no control over players' actions but game in and game out I consistently read posts that negatively comment on NA's team selection and substitutions and they are directly NA's responsibility. If, as some posts suggest, team selection is really down to NC then NA's position is untenable and under these circumstances should resign before being sacked to preserve his reputation. If team selection is purely down to NA then he has to turn things round very quickly. My real concern at the moment is whether-or-not the players themselves still have confidence. If not then NA simply has to go.
I just think we need a more defensive minded manager to shore us up. Keep the same players. In a nutshell.

Why leave out Rickie? can't be tired after 2 weeks off!
Why did you let our top pre-season scorer leave and keep Guly?
What's the next plan? Sell Rickie and Adam?

Is there any point sacking poor old Nigel? Not really, what would a new manager do? The time to review the mess we are in is when the new year transfer window opens. Perhaps consider a defensive coach. Nigel has to take responsibility for making a total disaster during the last transfer window in not getting in proven tried and tested defenders suitable for the premiership. The fans knew our defence looked shakey during the second half of last season and was an area that needed looking at. This is unforgivable and shows a certain amount of inexperience at this level. All the hard work had been done but not the basics, sort out the defence and the goals will come.it is because of this we hold a record for leaking the most goals at this level after 8 games. The way NIgel responds when being interviewed is not getting a little annoying.

Fortunately, I suspect he has, so I expect him to keep NA in place for a good while yet, because he's not as short sighted as you lot.

We're not in the relegation zone (and whatever excuses you all give for why everyone else is in the zone unfairly, that's just the truth) so I don't see it happening yet.

I'm going to have to give this site a miss for a week or two as I don't think I can bear to hear the drivel that will be posted on here over the next few days.
its good to keep faith. but we now need 3 points from 6 ( excluding ) the top four games which is a tall order.....
Maybe he could use a hand with the tactics, might be trying too hard?
I think so.... but I am also suspicious about the Guly situation.... that is starting to stink to high heaven. He should not have been playing the tail end of last season let alone now in the prem, he is nooooooooooooooo way good enough for this level.

Hardly surprising when there is no one in defence (including goal )who is premier class with exception of Clyne.

J Rod Puncheon and Guly can play well but not for 90minutes.

The opening sequence of fixtures and the injuries to Gaston and Lee have been unfortunate.

We have reached the Prem too early but we will survive but with a few experienced additions.

And to those dimwits, calling for the spiv from Sand Banks dont be so fokkin ridiculous!!

I hope he is able and given the time to turn it around from the position we are in at he moment as he deserve,s the chance after all he has done for the club.nigel knows in his heart of hearts he has to turn it around so next sunday lets get behind him and the team and give them all the encouragement they need. It was obvious to most fans the current defence, or perhaps the style of play, was at times creaky, if not leaky, in the Championship.

In August, along with many others, I said that the defence was not up to the Premiership (Udinese proved that). I was hoping to be wrong and take no pleasure in being right about it now.

NA did not get the defenders that were needed. He may well have tried but if he failed because he didn't make that his absolute priority then a question has to be asked about his judgement. Even then I see no benefit in sacking him.

He has to now work a way to get out of this mess. If he cannot do that during the rest of October and through November (with a lighter fixture list) then I think he will realise he was not up to the job and do the decent thing

Congats to us...
We have invented a new way to unsettle moral in the team. CHANGE THE GOALIE AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY!!
Over the years....
We have endured bad decisions from an often changing line up of directors.
We have had far too many managers to mention.
We have never held on to talent when the wages are elsewhere.
And now we have too many Goalkeepers. Three this season, and that's without injuries!!!!!!
No wonder our defence is disorientated and in disarray.
I hope Nigel stays. But he flucked up his selection today.

No i can't read the future but i'll spin it around how do you know a defence minded manager will make things better and make the players stop making those mistakes? and yes it could get worse we could concede more and score less which there is a good chance of happening with a defence minded manager and the defence we hae
Like I said, I will put a tenner on it.
A tenner on what? Adkins being sacked when? Getting a defence minded manager? or things not getting any worse?
Have you been reading my posts? A tenner on new management. Comprendez vouz?
At what odds?

No - but who changed and put out his third goalkeeper in less than 10 games (and not through any injury either)(and why drop gaz in the first place....to justify the signing?) Who played a CB at full back who looked like a fish out of water in that position 2 weeks ago (sorry is 2 weeks not long enough to prepare) Who left is top striker on the bench again (how wil he get march fit without game time) - how many other managers are doing that - oh that bloke at Villa with Bent - doing well also aren't they?
to justify the siging?
After throwing Gaz in at the deep end and then continuing with him against Fulham why change again and unsettle the backline further. Continuity usually breeds positive results, although the backline has been hampered with injuries and form since day 1. I thought Fox did ok in the last match and his delivery was our most potent weapon, which was badly missed today (and yes I know full well that he has made errors in the past). I notice no one moaned about Adam after the Fulham match - even though he was ball watching and got caught on the blindside for one of Fulham's goals.
I thought everyone had learned with Lambert over the past three seaons that if he plays matches - he gets fit and he keeps fit (and scores goals). Personally I think NA doesn't want Lambert in his team but has been forced to keep him in because RL keeps re-inventing himself as a top notch strker each time he moves up the leagues and JR hasn't done it in the central striking role despite having more pitch time than RL. Fonte and Richardson were both dropped when other players came in and got back in the team through further injuries. All three are Pardew signings and you might naturally expect all to fall by the way on the route from Lg 1 dropzone to the Prem and Richardson and Fonte probably would have. NA wants his team to be "his team" including the Academy players....a bit controversial and I am sure a few will disagree...but that's my theory and RL is the sticking point - he should be in the team - all of our best moments this season have usually been when he is playing, but NA seems to be stubborn on formation and tactics. I hate to see it, NA has done a great job until now - but now he is starting to look like a rabbit caught in the headlights and no matter what he tries it always seems to go wrong now. After what he has achieved I am sure the club and NC will be lambasted if they show him the door now, but the pressure is on and it is starting to show.

Who is selecting the team - NA or NC?
If NA then he must go because
team selection and tactics are wrong.
If NC then NA will not want to stay.
If NC is ruling over everything then a
change of manager will make no
difference.
I sadly feel that it is already too late,

What actually sounds familiar to me is that in the best part of my life time we have spent quality time in top flight footy while you have been dregging your name through the gutter.

We are indeed talking football here, not some sad embarrassment known in Hampshire known as The Blue FEW.

Agreed on at least one thing, the scum is about to be removed and you will go to the bottom of the Hampshire League as result of it.
As for History, do me a favour, it’s pathetic that you blue scummers would try and dine out on that.

All those calling for Adkins to be sacked, did he back Boruc make a poor decision for the first goal? NO. Did he make Yoshida flick his leg and not attack the ball from a Guly pass? NO. Did he make Jonte foul Carroll for the pen? NO. Once the players cross that white line it's up to them to perform. Yes he picks the team but he can't control them on the pitch
Good post. Thought Adkins sounded shell shocked in his post match interview. I think we all support what he has done to get us back to the premiership, but the defense has not been good for a long time, sticks with Gully and his 4, 3, 3 insistance at most matches is just not doing it! Unfortunatey I and I think he from his ownreaction post the match today, knows it!

What keep Guly and Fox i thought everyone on here wanted them both out the club? how will a defence minded manager help? the defenders will make the same mistakes and we will score less goals. Having a defence minded manager would not have stop the goals we conceded today or in any of our last games
How do you know our defence will make the same mistakes with a defense minded manager? Can you read into the future? What I'm saying is change the manager for a more defense minded one... Could it get any worse? I would risk putting a tenner on it.
At what odds?

they are suffering from delusion of adequacy, their future is tenuous at best and if the points deduction was activated right now they would be still be 5 points from safety.they bang on about being such wonderful fans, but only 13000 turned up today.we lost a game today so what, even if we got relegated we would still be light years away from them.thats what hurts them.and if the worst happened we would go down with a better team then the one that got us up, and a pocket full of cash, and players at a massive sell on value.so we pick ourselves up brush ourselves down and get on with it.If we can hang in there till january when the window reopens we can recruit as necessary.as for sacking adkins after a hand full of games! well i'd want to stick with him even if we did get relegated.personally I will stick with my team and that includes the manager and as for all the so called wum's! well they can just fcuk off.

Why blame Adkins? It's the defence - and lack of protection. The midfield did a good job in the first half but fell well short in the second.

Last season Blackpool and Reading attacked us down the wings and showed our weakness to NA. He had all summer to sort this.
Made some terrible substitutions this season.
No matter what keeper we have,we leak goals, defence needs to respect keeper so KD should be between sticks.
80% of team still look championship standard.
NA is out of his depth in the PL but how is supposed to learn? He needs help! There are enough experienced managers out there that NC could bring in to help NA out for 6 months.
January transfer window will be to late. Need a change of tactics now, stop resting RL as he plays better with constant time on the pitch, teams are afraid of him!
Fed up like most people but players need to have more pride and fight in them when they cross that line as in every match we do dominate for part of the game no matter who the opposition is.
Next 8 games we need 20 points, then it's Euro next season for us! Because from what I have of other PL teams we have nothing to fear. Just play hard for 90 mins not 10 here and there!

The Manure game showed me that Nige is not up to this, or someone else is pulling the strings...We either accept we went up a year early and let him have the experience he needs as we drop down OR we really need someone who A. picks the team themselves and B. knows his best 11 players.
u cant let that happen coz of the ramirez signing coz of his wages were lose him n loads of doe adam will be gone count on it i have that more or less from his mouth. hes really good friends with my really good friend and its come from his mouth, so were not guarenteed to go back up and a year later were b playin the might of carlisle in that god for saken weather in that god forsaken stadium? thats why he has to go NOW

got to laugh osprey.

they are suffering from delusion of adequacy, their future is tenuous at best and if the points deduction was activated right now they would be still be 5 points from safety.they bang on about being such wonderful fans, but only 13000 turned up today.we lost a game today so what, even if we got relegated we would still be light years away from them.thats what hurts them.and if the worst happened we would go down with a better team then the one that got us up, and a pocket full of cash, and players at a massive sell on value.so we pick ourselves up brush ourselves down and get on with it.If we can hang in there till january when the window reopens we can recruit as necessary.as for sacking adkins after a hand full of games! well i'd want to stick with him even if we did get relegated.personally I will stick with my team and that includes the manager and as for all the so called wum's! well they can just fcuk off.

Good response, it seemed that the moment that other teams get wind of someone that we are after, there is a rush to get them before us, proves we have got good taste, but we are probably not hard enough with the bargaining. The Buttner case was a classic, and how we ever got the Ramirez deal done in the end is beyond me.

CANT SOME ONE DO THE RIGHT THING AND GIVE GULY A DEAD LEG THAT KEEPS HIM OUT FOR 2 MONTHS..............

I love Mat Le God, but not what he is doing, I respect NC, but I wish he would tell us more about what is going on, so that it doesn't have to be made up, I do care for NA but in a tough situation like this he needs some more help.
Interesting.

I like Matt for what he has done over Many Years.

While Cortese did a good job whilst under the watchful eye of Herr Liebherr, I question whether he has anyone to check to see whether he is getting involved in things that he should not. Team affairs for example.

Nigel has done well since he took charge, but I do wonder whether his success was on the back of what Pardew had set in motion. I was surprised that he had such difficulty in attracting players to the club during the summer, and wonder why some of his targets, who seemed to be on the point of joining, decided against.
Good response, it seemed that the moment that other teams get wind of someone that we are after, there is a rush to get them before us, proves we have got good taste, but we are probably not hard enough with the bargaining. The Buttner case was a classic, and how we ever got the Ramirez deal done in the end is beyond me.
If that is the case, how did they get to know? There was so much speculation in the press. Someone must have been spreading the news.

You tell the press who you have signed, not who you Hope to sign.

I think that, maybe out of frustration, more money was spent on Ramirez than he was worth.

I like NA, I think we all do, what's not to like about him. He's passionate, professional, positive but tactically,he's suspect and always has been. It's nothing new, it goes right back to when we were in Lg1 and he would play defensive formations (i.e 4-5-1) at home ??? to nothing teams. Unfortunately he doesn't learn from his mistakes which is worrying. In my view for instance, when he brings on Guly for RL it makes us more defensive as a team and puts us under pressure. The reason is that RL likes to press defenders back, Guly runs the line wherever that is and so the opposition move up as a unit. And yet NA keeps doing the same thing.
Today he started with Guly and that for me was a mistake. RL would have pressed them back and made their long ball game more difficult. He finds it difficult to change formations when things aren't going well. Someone posted earlier that once the players cross the white line there is nothing he can do. I strongly disagree. He is the one person who can affect the game the most! He is there to find the chinks in the armour and exploit them and shore up our weaknesses. That's his job!

I don't hold with the view that being a bounce back club would be ok. It will bring far too many problems and uncertainties. Its still early but the clock is ticking and if come May, we are relegated, I would have to accept it. What I can't accept is being humiliated and conceding 3 goals per game is embarrasing.
Angus said earlier that nothing said on here will change anything and that is very true but change needs to happen and soon!

As for managers names being bandied about.. Rafa (maybe) Arry (doubt it, wouldnt fit in) Hoddle (bestest friend of the Dark Lord Lowe, never in a million I hope), Strachan (excellent) Mick McCarthy (?) who knows.

If these results continue, the axe is bound to fall

I don't want a new manager, but do want some new defenders and a definate replacement for Fonte. I do want Adkins to accept he got it wrong and also a coach with proven record in the premiership and ideally an ex defensive player. Far better to have stability and after all Nigel did get us here in two straight promotions, think it would be good that for once in football there was some loyalty and I like the bloke from what I see of him. I also hope that NC is not calling the shots in terms of tactics and who we buy?

Nigel's tactics were awfull today lambert on the bench gave west ham an advantage straight away without even kicking a ball.
Guly on the left was like a headless chicken as for jay rod not good enough in the prem waste of money. Our main problem tho is in defence the table doesn't lie we should have invested in a proven centre back as Fonte is out of his depth as proven on occasions last season.
We've also now played 3 keepers in 8 games no consistency between keeper and defenders. Sacking Nigel is not the way at the moment some of our experienced players need to step up and be counted for. Let's hope Nigel is picking the team and not a certain person keep the faith come on Nigel change the tactics we all want you to do well c o y r saints4eva

Waterloo arms then moved to Scotland, then came back and ran the Star and Garter for a while.
ok I'll concede you might be a saints fan. and that means I should apologise for accusing you of being a skate but I still think some of your posts are anti southampton.
Might sound like it at times but am just passionate. Wear my heart on my sleeve as they say.
Straight forward questions with a yes, no or a don't know response please.

NC to stay and see his dream through.?

NA to remain Manager.?

All fans should support 100% and say so?

Deffo NC to go.
I like Adkins but his team choice is beyond me. If he picks the team then yes he has to go.
As for fans support every one is allowed an opinion. All I can say is I'll be there supporting the team

Yes NC has to go, Don't know about NA as I've said before I don't think he has much say so. Not all fans can give 100% because of financial reasons and work.

Just seen some gossip on another site that NC is not involved with football side at all, just signs the cheques, the "villain" of the piece is Les Reed, could be untrue but makes sense.
