Winchester & District Athletics Club's senior women’s team finished fourth at the English National Cross Country Championships in Nottingham.

The ladies covered eight kilometres at picturesque Wollaton Park.

Marathoner Louise Damen finished in a fantastic sixth place in 29.56 behind winner Jessica Judd of Chelmsford.

This inspired her team-mates and Hayley Munn (36th) finished strongly in 31.45.

Melanie Wilkins (51st in 32.14) was WADAC’s third scorer and the team was completed by Simone Dailey (32.42 in a fine 67th) and Super Vet Lucy Elliott (69th).

The team finished just six points off third.

In a field of 788 finishers the other WADAC runners were Jennifer McLachlan (127th) and Jill Goodwin (761st).

In the 10km U20 Junior Men race James Heneghan (35.25) finished 43rd with Calum Upton 94th in 36.57 and Humza Ahmed 133rd in 38.21.

Calum’s sister Rosie was 139th in the U20 Women’s race.

The multi-talented Tallulah Jeffes ran well in the U15 Girls for 209th position.

U17 women: Emily Coulson was 83rd in 21.56 and Poppy Clements 99th in 22.12.

In the 2,000-strong Senior Men 12km race, WADAC’s finishers were Tim Swales (553rd), Dan Cunnington (555th), Sam Appleton (808th) and Andy Parkinson (905th).
