SOUTHAMPTON AC’S Alex Teuten finished fifth overall and second England scorer in the Great Ireland Run.

The University of Southampton student completed the tricky course in 30 minutes and 31 seconds.

Teuten enjoyed the weekend, albeit that he didn’t feel he was at his best.

“I’ve recently returned from a week’s break and I’m sure that played a part as I didn’t feel as sharp as I did over the winter,” he said.

“However, I know what I need to do to improve and I’m confident I can find the form I had at the end of the cross-country season.

“Next up is the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Outdoor Championships (April 29-May1) where I will try to reclaim the steeplechase title I won in 2014.”

From there Teuten will move on to the Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m PBS (May 20) where he hopes to get inside the 29.15 qualifying standard for the World Student Games.
