Boxing brothers Shane and Tommy will make it a night to remember for the Watson family, writes ADAM LEITCH.

The Mudeford duo are enjoying a new lease of life in their careers after opting to join trainer Wayne Batten and are in store for a memorable evening at the O2 Guildhall Southampton tomorrow night.

The brothers boast 14 pro contests between them but have never before fought on the same bill.

They and their family and friends have always had to try and split their time and resources to follow them both around the country in their bids for boxing glory but not this evening.

Shane, the older brother by three years, will be back in the ring for the first time in three years at light welterweight while 26-year-old welterweight Tommy has his fifth contest.

Batten joked: “It’s definitely a big night for the Watson family.

“It’s surprising really that they haven’t both fought on the same show before, so it will be a really nice occasion for all their family and friends and hopefully they will see them both win.

“They are both at the stage of their careers where we are looking for them to gain experience and notch up some wins and then push on from there towards titles.

“Ultimately it would be fantastic to think that we might be able to have them both fight for titles on the same show, but for now this is a great start.”
