Triple title holder Lewie Edmondson put a nightmare four months behind him to return to winning ways in a big Golden Ring ABC show.

The Southampton club hosted the ADS sponsored event at the Novotel and it proved the perfect platform for Edmondson to make his comeback.

Edmondson has been out of action since October with a horrible run of problems that started with the mumps, moved on to conjunctivitis and then culminated in a foot injury.

It was also his first fight without a head guard but that didn’t put him off as he took a split decision against Rhys Constable-Williams (Exhall).

Albie Samways, 13, had his first rematch in six bouts against Owen Penny (Shepton Mallet).

Samways is 6ft and 71kg so he is not the easiest 13-year-old to match, but he made it seven wins on the trot with an unconvincing win.

Home favourite heavyweight Jordan Gaunt took his tally to six wins from six with his most impressive display yet against Lee Park (Wessex).

Gaunt’s huge army of fans were entertained by a great opening round when he forced a count but failed to get the contest finished.

The second was again comfortable for him and, even though Park made a dash for glory in the last round, Gaunt claimed a unanimous win.

There were contrasting fortunes for debutants Louis Penfold, who lost to Ashley Chamberlain (Newport), while Horton Heath teenager Dylan Langford picked up a very tight win over Raheem Khan (InnerCity).

St Mary’s lad Sherkhhan Ahmedi came in a little too light and paid the price as he suffered a unanimous points defeat to Ryan Tooher (Exhall).

Light welterweight Nathan Lang endured a painful loss to Kieran Glanville (Waterlooville) as he dislocated his shoulder after just 90 seconds and was forced to retire.

Official doctor, Colin Martin, put it back in place while the fighter was still in the ring.

There was an exciting bout between Tyrone Gordon and Kurt Dingle (Solent Uni) with the 18-year-old Lordswood lad getting the nod in his first bout against the local student.

The crowd were on their feet for a superb contest that swung one way then the other, but Gordon’s slicker style and faster hand speed won him a unanimous decision.

There were scrappier contests for Mackenzie Walker against James Chamberlain (Team Wiseman) and middleweight Alex Hibberd against James McCormack (Sevenoaks), but both came out as clear winners.
