Wayne Batten is hoping it will be the week of the underdog as Tony Hill fights for the Commonwealth title at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday.

The Millbank trainer is hoping for a first champion out of his Southampton gym when the 25-year-old middleweight takes on Billy Joe Saunders on one the biggest boxing stages of them all in London on Saturday evening.

The bookmakers have priced Hill at a massive 8-1 to beat Saunders but there have been two big boxing upsets in the last week, as well as one in the world of football, and Batten, pictured right, hopes his charge will also prove the experts wrong.

“It might be a week of underdogs with Derry Matthews beating Anthony Crolla and Jon Lewis Dickinson beating Matty Askin, and everyone writing off Chelsea against Barcelona,” he said.

“The odds mean nothing. It’s what the experts think, but we go in there in to win and we are going there to bring that belt back to Southampton.”
