King Davidson has been crowned WBO International light middleweight champion after a brutal second round stoppage of Joseph Lamptey.
Davidson, the 27-year-old Nigerian who trains under Wayne Batten at the Millbank gym, forced a count in the first round at Southampton's Oceana nightclub when Lamptey was forced to hold himself up on the ropes after an overhand left.
There was no escape for the Ghanian in the second though as Davidson stepped up the pressure and made emphatic use of his height, reach and weight advantage.
With moments until the end of the round Davidson landed a lightning quick combination that sent Lamptey sprawling to the canvas into his corner.
The bell went during the count but Lamptey was unable to get to his feet and the contest was waved off.
The title guarantees Davidson a coveted top 15 world ranking.
