Hampshire captain Nic Pothas has signed a new two- year contract, which will keep him at The Rose Bowl until 2011.
Wicketkeper Pothas has scored 6,315 first-class runs at 46.09 since signing in 2002 - as well as claiming 333 dismissals.
He said: “I am extremely happy to be with Hampshire for at least the next two years. It was probably one of the easiest decisions I’ve had to make in a while. The club has some great ambitions for the future and I definitely see myself as being an integral part of that.”
Hampshire manager Giles White said: “Nic is one of those guys that every county would kill to have in their side, so it's fantastic to know that he will be at the club scoring runs, taking catches and helping nurture some of the younger talent that we have in our squad for the years to come.”
