Man-of-the-match Sean Ervine believes Hampshire can win the Twenty20 Cup for the first time.

All-rounder Ervine took 3-26 before blitzing an unbeaten 39 from just 22 balls as Hampshire beat Essex to secure a Twenty20 quarter-final at Northants next month.

He said: “Since theTwenty20 competition began we haven’t performed as we know we can.

“It’s about time that changed.

“But we’re playing some good stuff, we’ve got a good blend in the team, and all of the boys are doing their bit.

“If we can play like this, I see no reason why we can’t be a real threat in this competition."
