HAMPSHIRE chairman Rod Bransgrove insists the county have a squad capable of challenging for honours on ALL fronts after signing South African Test star Neil McKenzie.
The 34-year-old right-handed batsman, who plays for Highveld Lions in his home country, will spend the entire 2010 season at the Rose Bowl as a Kolpak-qualified player.
He will add his knowledge to a top order containing the likes of Michael Carberry, Michael Lumb and Jimmy Adams.
Hampshire were in need of an experienced top order bat following the retirement of John Crawley, and McZenzie – who has had short stints with Somerset (2007) and Durham (2008) – fits the bill.
McKenzie – married to famous South African wonderbra model Kerry McGregor – is the fifth new face at the club for 2010 after the signings of Kabir Ali, Simon Jones, Shahid Afridi and Ajantha Mendis.
