Hampshire captain Dimitri Mascarenhas has demanded an improvement while he is playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.
Mascarenhas leaves for a fortnight with the IPL franchise tomorrow following an innings-and-27-run defeat for Hampshire against Yorkshire at Headingley today.
It was Hampshire's first defeat against Yorkshire in nine Championship matches and their heaviest for eight years.

After resuming their second innings on 136-4, still needing 103 to make Yorkshire bat again on the final day, Hampshire were dismissed for 212, having suffered defeat in their opening Friends Provident Trophy game against Somerset last week.
Mascarenhas said: "It's not nice to leave on the back of two losses, I didn't want to do that, but we didn't bowl as we would have liked to.
"Yorkshire showed us how to bowl, they got it in the right area by pitching it up and swinging it so we've got to pull it back for the next game.
"The batters also need to start getting some big scores as we haven't had a hundred yet."
Mascarenhas added: "I'm trying to perform with bat and ball as well as captain and it's tough when we get pumped like this."
Hampshire were frustrating Yorkshire while Nic Pothas and Michael Brown were at the crease on Saturday morning.
But Pothas, having been dropped on 37 by Yorkshire captain Anthony McGrath at second slip, was bowled via a huge inside edge without adding to his score in the next over.
Then, in the penultimate over before lunch, Michael Brown was caught by first-slip Jacques Rudolph for a stoic 81 after edging an attempted drive against Ajmal Shahzad.
Hampshire still needed 48 runs to avoid an innings defeat at lunch but continued to struggle against the swing generated by Yorkshire's pace attack and lost their last four wickets for 19 runs in 8.5 overs after the interval.
Mascarenhas (22) edged a loose drive and wicketkeeper Gerard Brophy took another excellent catch to see off Chris Tremlett (8) before Greg Lamb (8) nicked to first slip.
It was all over when Shane Bond (1) lost his middle stump to England discard Matthew Hoggard, who finished with a match analysis of 8-97.
Hampshire play two Friends Provident Trophy games without Mascarenhas next weekend.
They then travel to Taunton to play Somerset without England Lions pair Michael Carberry and Chris Tremlett, as well as Mascarenhas.
Mascarenhas said: "It's a blow but we'll have KP back for that game and David Balcombe will hopefully be available for selection by then because he's playing a Championship match for the second XI at Surrey on Wednesday."
Hampshire have confirmed that Pothas will captain the Hawks in the three FP Trophy games that Mascarenhas will miss - against Somerset, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire - while Jimmy Adams will skipper against Somerset at Taunton in the Championship from May 7-10.
Mascarenhas's Rajasthan Royals debut is likely to be against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday.
That is the first of five Indian Premier League matches he is available for during the next fortnight.
He said: "I'm really looking forward to getting over there, it will be good fun."
Mascarenhas returns to Hampshire for the Championship match against Surrey at the Rose Bowl, which starts on May 14, but could also miss the visit of Kent if the Rajasthan Royals reach the semi-finals at the end of May.
The above shows what a poor state the mangement of Hampshire Cricket is in at present. The welfare of the team after a poor start is so important to the skipper that he's going to say 'bye lads, I'm off now to make some money for myself in Indai for two weeks. The players will have respect for this man. We need someonw akin to Adams at Sussex as a leader. If only the management had listened to Udal's 'offer' at the end of last season - give me the captaincy or I'm off. He would have been a good skipper this year. Also, where are the younger players coming through.

There's no doubting the commitment from the management to develop The Rose Bowl 'PLC'. The new plans for the ground, and the fact that it will soon be a test match venue are both great news.
But they've really taken their eye of the ball with regard to the actual cricket playing staff.
The manner of Warney's departure was unfortunate to say the least, and watching Udal at Middlesex this season will be a real shame for Hants fans.
The fact is though, and I hate to say this, but does it really matter to the management team how Hampshire CCC perform?
The international matches, the T20 finals and the numerous concerts that now take place are the real earners for 'the firm', Hampshire just happen to play some cricket there.

But can you really blame him? A county cricketer without a central contract is essentially just a voluntary worker!
The IPL is an opportunity for them to secure the financial future of their families, which the county game would never do.
The ECB missed the boat here, they should scrap the current county T20 competition and run an IPL style tournament mid-summer.
Though test cricket is the pure form of the game, and should always remain and be supported, T20 should be embraced if only to subsidise the longer form of the game.

T20 (and the limited-over game generally) IS proper cricket; the game that's been enjoyed by the majority of village and pub cricketers in this country for decades. Try packing any more overs than that in on a summer's evening!
Only a tiny number of cricketers will ever play a 5 day game.

Don't worry Hampshire members, they will buy success eventually. The youngsters are not what wins trophies and nor is letting your skipper go halfway through the season!!

All limited overs slogs are phoney but seeing the low concentration spans of the majority of people these days 20/20 is popular and watch them too if you want to be part of a rowdy, football-type crowd but 20/20s aren't always close matches and I think the novelty will wear off.
I think betting scandals will soar too as nearly every ball bowled will be subject to some form of gamble.

While I evidently prefer watching test cricket, I appreciate there is a place for T20 and want to see it flourish, side-by-side with the globally recognised pure form of international cricket.
You, however, are clearly a slog-phile and intimate that you want test cricket killed off in favour of this neonate form of the game.
Are the numbers a bit too big for you in test cricket Martin? Do you have a problem adding up the two innings or something?
