DIMITRI Mascarenhas will have to wait to make his Indian Premier League debut - but Shane Warne's Rajasthan Royals did very well without him in Jaipur yesterday.
Hampshire captain Mascarenhas is available for the Jaipur franchise's next four games and could make his debut on Sunday against the Chennai Super Kings, who lead the IPL table. He is also available for the Mumbai Indians, the Deccan Chargers and the Delhi Daredevils.
But the England one-day all rounder was not even needed as the Royals completed an emphatic 45-run win against the Kolkata Knight Riders under the Jaipur floodlights yesterday.
Mascarenhas was expected to come in for one of the four overseas players but Warne stuck with Hampshire-bound Shane Watson, Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir and South African skipper Graeme Smith as the second-placed Royals went level on points with the Chennai Super Kings at the top of the IPL table.
