HAMPSHIRE captain Jimmy Adams has helped raise £8,000 for charity – by walking the Clarendon Way.

Adams took advantage of a break in Hampshire’s schedule to complete the 26-mile challenge with 60 friends and family.

The Hampshire beneficiary helped raise the four-figure sum for Parkinson’s UK in doing so.

Adams was inspired to complete the walk from Salisbury to Winchester because of a challenge once accepted by his dad Mike, who now has Parkinson’s Disease.

He said: “The last five miles was very hard work but the views made it easier - it’s a very nice part of the world.

“I thought the physio was going to give me an earful but I’m not too bad, fortunately I didn’t get any blisters but plenty did and I was very sore on Sunday evening!

“35 of us started from Salisbury Cathedral around 8am and we were joined on the way by another 25, including my dad for the final leg from Farley Mount.

“Originally we were just hoping to raise £200 so we’re delighted with the total so far - money’s still coming in so we’re hoping for a bit more. It is a fantastic cause, one very close to our hearts.

“And as exercise is a key part of any Parkinson’s’ sufferer’s lifestyle, this challenge seemed like a very fitting way to raise some money for it.”
