Hampshire all-rounder Ryan McLaren has signed for Specsavers County Championship division one rivals Lancashire - after an outstanding 13 months at The Ageas Bowl.

McLaren, 33, scored 992 runs at 47.2 and took 43 wickets at 38.7 after signing for Hampshire in September 2015 - an arrival that inspired the Great Escape.

This season he was the county's Bowler of the Year (32 wickets at 38.8) and Clubman of the Year.

The former South African international played in all formats for the Proteas but was used by Hampshire as a Championship specialist.

He will be available in all competitions for Lancashire next season.

Lancashire head coach Ashley Giles said: "We're thrilled to bring Ryan into our squad for next year. He brings international experience to what is a relatively young, but extremely talented changing room.

"He will certainly add depth to our seam-bowling department but will also give us balance with the bat too.

"His record in both ODI and first-class cricket is outstanding and we look forward to welcoming him to Emirates Old Trafford."

McLaren added: "I'm delighted to be joining up with Lancashire next year. It's a big club and I can't wait to start working with Ashley Giles and the squad at Emirates Old Trafford.

"I'm looking forward to being a part of the squad in all competitions and hopefully win some more silverware for the club."
