Hampshire's Liam Dawson starred with bat and ball against Sussex at Hove today.

Both counties batted for 45 overs against a red ball, under floodlights at times.

Dawson took 2-22 from nine overs as Sussex made 139-4, with Kyle Abbott (12-0-41-1) and Ryan Stevenson also taking a wicket apiece.

Then Dawson made a half-century as Hampshire, 57-3 after 13 overs, recovered to make 165-7 in reply, with Stevenson (19) and Will Smith (17) not out.

Hampshire have one more friendly, a three-day match against Cardiff MCCU starting on Sunday, before taking on Yorkshire at Headingley in the opening round of Specsavers County Championship matches next Friday.
