Hants' t20 quarter-final date confirmed

MICHAEL LUMB MICHAEL LUMB

Hampshire have been drawn away to Nottinghamshire in the t20 quarter-finals a fortnitght on Wednesday.

A saturated outfield meant the Royals' final South Group game against Essex was finally called off at 5pm today.

That combined with Notts' win against last year's winners Leicestershire meant Hampshire would be away from home in the last eight.

There they will play Notts at Trent Bridge for the first time in the shortest format, at 7.10pm on Wednesday, July 25.

It means a reunion with former player Michael Lumb.

no matter what the umpires say it seems ridiculous that in sunshine from 3pm to 5.10 when the game was called off that they didn't play.

But lesson for Hampshire INSTALL DRAINAGE system that is better than the existing system.

The drainage at the Ageas Bowl, installed only about four years ago, is as good as it gets. On most other grounds there would never have been any possibility of play. With the volume of rain we have had this "summer" the soil is absolutely saturated and no drainage system could cope.

Pikey if that is true about the drainage then fair enough however, just posing a question now. Could they not invest in a complete outfield cover ? not sure how practical that is but an cover system to cover the whole playing area should be explored to see if practical think Old Trafford or Edgbaston have one.

All draws are tough at this stage but Notts may be the better of several evils! Sadly can't get there mid week but hopefully some will be able to and will make some noise for the boys!!
Come on you Royals!!!!!!!!
