After two months out of cricket with an ankle ligament injury, Will Bosisto made his comeback for Totton & Eling at Bournemouth – but finished on the losing side.

Despite Australia’s Under-19 World Cup skipper hitting 86 and taking a wicket, Totton & Eling fell 20 runs short of their target of 226, writes Tom Beresford.

Bosisto said: “Although we lost, it was good to be out in the field again”.

“It’s been frustrating not being able to play as it’s what I’ve come here to do.’ Totton & Eling have struggled without Bosisto, who suffered ankle ligament damage while bowling at Havant in early June.

They have not won in seven ECB Southern Electric Premier League matches.

After passing the 400-run mark for the season, Bosisto is determined to finish the season strongly and help the Eels win their win their last three games.

“Hopefully I can take a few more wickets and make a few more runs and help avoid any threat of relegation,” he said.

Coming to England has been a huge positive for the Aussie prospect – despite the set-back of his ankle injury.

Admitting it’s been difficult to adapt to the varying bounce and the south coast wickets, Bosisto said: “It’s definitely helped my game.

“You’ve got to adapt your game and play different shots and risk that you normally would.’ Bosisto has been given the clear from his physio and although he felt slightly sore after his first game back, he’s relishing the opportunity to finish the season strongly and be fit enough for the start of the season back in Western Australia.

“It felt a bit sore after batting nearly 50 overs and I have to wear an ankle brace every time I play for the next 12 months but, other than that, it’s all good,” he concluded.

Bosisto will hope to continue his fine form when Havant visit the Linden Oval this coming Saturday (1pm).
