Can Trojans make it four wins on the spin and lift themselves off the foot of the Southern Electric Premier League Division 3 table?

That’s the burning question on the eve of tomorrow’s visit to newly promoted Waterlooville.

At the start of the month and after seven successive defeats, few people had given Trojans much hope of avoiding the drop into the Hampshire League next summer.

But an astonishing turnaround which has seen Trojans beat Alton and Bashley (Rydal) seconds and then bowl Basingstoke & North Hants II off the top of the table, has fuelled optimism the club can avoid the drop.

“The whole place is buzzing,” said Simon Williams, whose return to the side has given the batting department an extra dimension.

“The lads are playing with confidence now and even though Jamie Donaldson has busted a finger, I really fancy we can win at the Ville.”

Waterlooville are without opening batsman James Scutt, the former Hambledon captain, who begins a three-match suspension.

New leaders Tichborne Park can do Trojans a favour by beating relegation threatened Portsmouth & Southsea, while St Cross Symondians II, the other side in trouble, face a tough one at South Wilts II.

Fair Oak give Peter Symonds College student Will Hughes his debut against Alton II.
