LUKE Ronchi took time out from his hectic schedule to look up his old Bashley (Rydal) pals the day before helping New Zealand beat England in the third Royal London one-day international at The Ageas Bowl.

The wicketkeeper-batsman spent the eve of his 52nd ODI watching Bashley’s Second XI beat Langney Manor at the BCG.

Ronchi, who played for Bash from 1999-2002, took the catch that saw off England dangerman Jos Buttler before sweeping Joe Root for six in a run-a-ball 13 at the Ageas Bowl yesterday

With only three needed the 34 year-old skied a Ben Stokes slower ball, attempting to win the match with another six, at the beginning of the penultimate over.

“Luke was with us all afternoon, it was fantastic to see him,” said Neil Taylor.
