Totton & Eling beat Tichborne Park by six wickets – but will have to win a supplementary round tie against Bournemouth on Sunday week if they are to reach the Southern Electric Plate twenty20 semi-finals.

With ten first round losers qualifying, the SPL had to organise an extra round and Totton will host the Lions at Southern Gardens on July 19 to see who joins Andover, Ventnor and Waterlooville in the hat for the semi-final draw.

A five-wicket spell by New Zealander Andrew Fletcher (5-15) put Totton on top against Tichborne Park, for whom Tom Allam hit 58.

The Eels were home and dry in 15 overs, James Taylor (48), pictured, leading the way.

Andover easily beat Sparsholt (80) by five wickets, while Bournemouth’s 153-6 – built around Mike Kitson (37) and teenage Kiwi Josh Finnie (38) – proved too many for hosts Langley Manor.

Jake George hit a boundary strewn 62 not out as Ventnor marched into the semi-finals with a nine-wicket win over Portsmouth, while Alex Shephard hit an identical score as Waterlooville chased down Alton’s 154-9 with time to spare.
