Head, hit a remarkable 101 not out from 53 balls as the Strikers beat the Sydney Sixers in front of 46,000 at the Adelaide Oval.
Former Hampshire star Jackson Bird (4-0-33-1) helped restrict the Strikers to 123-5 midway through their 17th over.
But, needing 54 off the last 21 balls, Head ensured they got there with three deliveries to spare.
The left-hander, who turned 22 on Tuesday, smashed an astonishing seven of his nine sixes off his last 14 balls, including six from his last nine.
Head was part of the first Ageas Bowl International Cricket Acadmey intake in 2013, the summer he made 968 runs at 64.5 for Southern Premier League Ventnor CC.
His latest heroics came two days after former Gosport CC star Chris Lynn made 101 off 51 balls for Brisbane Heat against Hobart Hurricanes.
The Brisbane Heat captain also made an unbeaten 75, albeit in another losing cause, against Perth Scorchers on Boxing Day.
Lynn, 25, played for Gosport in 2008.
