Former Alton all-rounders Dave Taylor and Darron Augustus set up a 17-run win for Totton & Eling over Bournemouth at the Linden Oval.

Taylor was full of confidence after his world record breaking 334 for Totton seconds against Trojans three weeks ago and hit a flowing 83, while Augustus cut through Bournemouth’s lower order to finish with 5-46.

Totton’s 210-8 proved just beyond the reach of Bournemouth, who closed on 193 all out, after a fine innings by Josh Lawrence.

Taylor’s 83 included two sixes and nine fours, but once he departed the blossoming Sam Walker guided Totton past the 200-mark with some sensible batting.

Scott Barlow (3-47) made inroads, but Walker’s unbeaten 57 proved to be invaluable as Totton moved to a competitive 210-8.

Two early breakthroughs by Nick Edens (2-20) put Bournemouth on the back foot, but Lawrence, the Dorset batsman who is studying at Southampton Solent University, looked in prime form.

He hit ten boundaries in his 87, but lacked much support other than from Nick Evans (33) as Bournemouth fell away from 168-5, Augustus picking up four of the last five wickets.
