Jewell sparkles in t20 Cup

Phil Jewell with the ball that did the damage
Phil Jewell returned one of the best individual bowling performances in Southern Electric t20 Cup history as Sarisbury Athletic sprang a second round shock by knocking out Ventnor at Allotment Road.
Jewell took 6-17 in a four-over spell as Ventnor were rushed out for 88, following Sarisbury’s 154-8.
He broke a pedestrian 47-run opening partnership between Neil Westhorpe (36) and George Hatt, and went on to rip out Ventnor’s top order to prompt a horrendous collapse by the Islanders.
They lost all ten wickets for 41 runs – Ricky Rawlins taking 3-28 – with every one of Jewell’s six victims being caught, two by himself.
Ventnor were generally outplayed by a far sharper Sarisbury side, who built on some solid top order batting by Rawlins (48), Pete Hammond (33) and Archie Norris (16).
Ian Hilsum (2-21) and Ollie Mills (2-18) took two wickets each, but Sarisbury were long since in the driving seat and emerged deserved winners.
