MATT Metcalfe and Dan
Goldstraw turned the
tables on Bashley (Rydal)
and bowled Totton &
Eling to an improbable
seven-run win at the
BCG.
At lunch, Totton were reeling at
86-8, but the tail wagged furiously
and steered the visitors to a
131-run total Bashley
failed to match.
Totton lurched from 42-
2 to 86-8 in a wicketstrewn
pre-lunch session,
with Jake Lilley (2-
47) scalping former
Hampshire opener Derek
Kenway (28) and leg
spinner Max Waller (3-9)
calling the tune.
But last pair Richard Dibden
(14 not out) and Goldstraw, pictured,
(20) added a precious 28
runs - their tenth wicket stand
deciding the outcome of a low
scoring affair.
Metcalfe (6-25) and Goldstraw
(4-43) ran riot as Bashley plunged
to 30-5 before teenager
Gavin Bailiff joined Neil
Thurgood (33) to put the
New Forest side back in
contention.
They added 53 for the
sixth wicket, after which
Bailiff, with a courageous
64, took Totton on
single handed.

But, having taken
Bashley to within seven runs of
the Totton total, Bailiff was
stumped by David Metcalfe to
give the Dorset seamer his sixth
victim and leave the hosts 124 all
out.
