Whiteley spike Colden guns

The Colden Common goal machine which had averaged almost ten goals a game in achieving an unbeaten record this season, came to a grinding halt this week as a resolute Whiteley Juniors held out tenaciously to secure a 1-0 victory courtesy of a first half Matthew Caunt strike. The Common attacked relentlessly in the second period but were constantly thwarted by the heroics of diminutive Thomas Butts in the Whiteley goal.

Colden Common did regain their composure in their second match, running out 6-0 winners against Winsor, Jack Rushby grabbing a brace. Whiteley completed a memorable day with a comfortable 7-1 win over Botley Village Green, Nick Bold scoring three with Sam Fisher and Dan Knowles adding two apiece. Botley did get some compensation with a 3-1 win over Winsor, Joshua Muscat netting two for the villagers.

Pace Pumas extended their lead at the top of the division thanks to a hard fought 2-1 victory over Alresford Town A and a 5-1 win over Bitterne Terriers Blue, Ryan Chester netting twice for the Pumas. Alresford bounced back with a 3-1 win over Townhill Emperors who had previously beaten Bitterne with three without reply.

Hythe Strikers were on the end of two heavy defeats, losing 7-0 to Michelmersh & Timsbury (Ben Bradwell 3) and 12-1 to Littleton Lions for whom Tom Steggle grabbed six and Louis-Rae Bentley a hat-trick.
