Seven goal Bowden seals it for Saints
Wyvern Saints secured the Blue League title this week as a seven goal Tom Bowden blast was sufficient to ensure the Saints pipped Hedge End Rhinos on goal difference.
The Rhinos made Wyvern fight all the way as they managed to breach St Denys spirited defence five times without reply, Dylan Kirkwood scoring a hat-trick. The Result meant that Wyvern had to win by five clear goals to win the title. Things looked ominous when Brad Hines gave opponents Hythe Harriers an early lead leaving the Saints requiring to score six. With a mountain to climb, Tom Bowden put on his crampons and hoisted the Saints to the peak and an 8-1 victory,ensuring they go to St Mary's in May with at least one title in the bag.
The only only other game in the Blue League saw Brendon Beazley grab a hat-trick in St Deny'd 5-1 win over Bitterner Terriers Red.
