Winchester Eagles secure Green League title

It was a great weekend for Winchester Eagles as they reached the finals of the Jim Pearson Cup on Saturday and won the Green League title on Sunday as a result of back to back wins over Southside. The Eagles were made to fight all the way by a spirited Southside team who held on to the final seconds before succombing to a last minute Harry Bayles strike in their first match. The second match was also a tight affair with the Eagles eventually running out 2-0 victors.

Academicals had the opportunity to secure runners up spot if they won both of their matches having beaten Oakwood Tigers 4-2 a day earlier, but in their first they were undone by two goals from Matt Shepherd who gave Eastleigh Rangers a 2-1 win. in their second match the Academicals overcame Botley Village Red 6-0, Logan Lintot scoring a hat-trick. The Academicals must now hope that fellow contenders Weston Sports drop a point in one of their final games over the next week.

Eastleigh completed a good day with a 4-1 win over Totton Rangers Blue, Matt Shepherd grabbing another brace. Totton didn't go home empty handed as they had earlier beaten Botley 4-1, Nck Lo netting twice.
