Shocks galore at top of Red League
There were a few surprise results at the top of the Red League this week to keep the competition interesting.
Pace Pumas lost their unbeaten record as Whiteley Juniors once again proved the scourge of the leading teams. An Ed Ditchburn goal direct from the corner was sufficent to sink the Pumas, who had earlier warmed up with a 5-0 win over Winsor. A Sam Fisher hat-trick helped Whiteley to a 7-0 win over Hythe Striker Spitfires to end the year on a high for the Juniors.
Colden Common's day started with a bang with a 5-0 win over the strong Michelmersh & Timsbury, Jason Probert netting a hat-trick for the Common. Things went badly wrong in their second game as they received a mauling at the hands of Littleton Lions, Tom Steggall grabbing a hat-trick for the Lions in their 5-0 success. The Lions good day was completed with a 6-0 victory over Botley Village Green, Tom Steggall and Austin Gwilliam each grabbing a brace in the 6-0 win.
Michelmersh and Timsbury, smarting from their earlier defeat, took out their frustration on the unfortunate Botley Village, recording the highest score of the day, fourteen without reply. Gabe Lyons Davis weighed in with five, assisted by Ben Bradwell with four and Connor Osborn with three.
Sarisbury Sparks had their best day of the current campaign with two victories. Jamie Griffiths and Josh Cuming scored two apiece in their 5-0 win over Bitterne Terriers Blue and Josh also getting the only goal of the game in their surprise win over Alresford Town A. Townhill also had two wins over the same opposition, Clayd Roach being the hero scoring both goals against Bitterne and the only goal of the game against Alresford.
