Promotion-chasing Eastleigh have completed one new signing and should have another in the bag for tomorrow's tricky Blue Square South assignment at second-placed Eastbourne Borough.
Pedigree midfielder Karl Murray, 26, completed his move from Grays Athletic in time to make a substitute appearance for the Spitfires in Saturday's 0-0 draw at relegation-battlers Sutton United.
And next in for Eastleigh is Sutton striker Warren McBean who, paperwork allowing, may be drafted straight in tomorrow as a replacement for top gun Andy Forbes, who limped out of the action just after half-time on Saturday.
"Forbesy took a kick to the ankle and it's swelled up quite badly, so he's out for tomorrow," reported manager Ian Baird.
New signing Murray - a former Shrewsbury Town and England Non-League player - is also struggling after turning his ankle towards the end of Saturday's Gander Green Lane stalemate, which has dropped Baird's play-off seekers one place to fifth.
How many strikers do Eastleigh need? Bairdy considered signing him before for Hawks when McBean turned out for Hawks in a friendly match along with Joe Coles brother (never to be seen again). I think McBean then signed for St Albans who at the time were a Conference outfit but didn't really get to grips with them and moved onto Sutton United where he's shown he has got an eye for goal especially with a struggling team. Not sure he's that good though. Like i said how many strikers do they really need. What happened to Ashan Holgate? Hes gone on loan to Cirencester hasn't he after the Spitfires spent 10 grand on him from Weston. When are Eastleigh gonna offer the right amount for Havant's Tom Jordan - he's a solid defender and easily the best in this division, he could work wonders for Eastleigh alongside former Hawk Luke Byles. I'd say he's worth at least £20,000 of anybodys money. Blue Square January 2008 Player of the Month!

If Baird showed interest in Mcbean when he was at Havant it shows that he realy rates him.
To many strikers your kidding Andy Forbes is our only fit striker Sales can't cope with a full 90 min these days. Watts is still recovering from surgerypart from them we don't have any. Holgate was a total waste of money but i;m sure he never cost that much.
Jordon won't be coming to Efc in the near future because Havant have a big problem with Baird over a sponsor deal.

My god, imagine if they did go up! They would be setting all sorts of records for low crowds - and a much bigger wage bill etc etc.
Bye Bye Eastliegh, Eastliegh Bye Bye
