Day of judgement for Tyro League teams

HAMPSHIRE FA will meet today to decide where four Tyro League clubs will play their football next season.

The futures of the quartet will be discussed at a hearing after the county FA made a change to one of their rules about youth football and mini-soccer clubs playing in leagues outside of the area they are based in.

Previously leagues had an element of freedom to work with one another and decide whether a club should be allowed to transfer to a competition in a neighbouring area.

But now Hampshire FA will take on the responsibility for making that decision and four clubs – Winchester Youth, Alresford Town, Littleton and SportStars FC – will have their cases heard today. During their applications it is understood the clubs – two of which have played in the Tyro League for over 30 years – will have to meet certain criteria to retain their places in the Southampton-based competition.

If it was up to the teams in the league before, why does Hampshire FA feel the need to get involved? If two teams have played in the Tyro league for 30 years, why oh why should they get involved now?....If it aint broke...don't fix it

what an absolute joke this is, I remember playing Littleton in the tyro around 15 years ago, it would be a crime to chuck them and the others out

Hants FA mess it up again.
These teams are needed in the Tyro, leave them alone

This article only tells part of the story. Apparently it is not only the Tyro League that is affected. At least three other leagues have been dictated to by the Hants FA that these and other clubs are not permitted to play in the league of their choice.

Why has it been left until now to 'decide' which leagues these clubs can play in, surely most leagues closing dates have passed?
It sounds like someone at the HFA has changed a rule and then forgitten to tell anyone. Words fail.... If this happened in the hard cruel commercial world sackings would follow, but not here, ranks will be closed and blame apportioned elsewhere.

One hopes that those involved in the decision making process today use some common sense and let these teams/clubs play in the leagues they always have. You know it makes sense!

So much for Hampshire FA's stated aim of "Using the power of football to build a better future"!! They should leave these teams alone or face accusations of meddling, change for change's sake, hypocrisy, favouritism...What about Salisbury City, for example?? Yet again our county FA shoots itself in the foot; they need to change their attitude and vastly improve the service they provide. This sort of thing just makes them a laughing stock and quite right too

security word "Item drop"-how very appropriate!!

My lad plays in the mid Solent League, comprising mainly teams from Fareham towards Portsmouth, but we have games against Clanfield, Liss, Petersfield, Grayshott & Headley. I wouldn't call any of them Mid Solent but nobody complains. We all welcome them to our league. Why should people want to change existing set ups if nobody is objecting!

Don't get me wrong here, as I don't want to see any teams removed from the league, but how can Hants FA even contemplate doing this when the likes of both Salisbury City and Laverstock are playing in the tyro league or EDMSL (not even in the same county)... a bit of a joke really
