Premier League withholds more of Portsmouth FC's money

The Premier League will hold on to more than £2million from Portsmouth's player sales in January to cover money owed to other clubs as more financial pressure was today heaped on the south coast side.

Chelsea and Watford will both receive cash owed from when financially-stricken Pompey signed Glen Johnson and Tommy Smith respectively.

Once the players' wages have been covered, the £4million remainder from the £8million Portsmouth earned from selling defender Younes Kaboul and keeper Asmir Begovic could be an important lifeline.

The club will use a chunk of the cash to try to persuade HM Revenue and Customs to reschedule the payments on the £7.5million owed in VAT.

However, another creditor has also joined in with HMRC's winding-up petition to the High Court on Wednesday next week.

Grosvenor Basingstoke Properties are claiming they are owed money by Portsmouth though that is being disputed by the club.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth are also involved in a separate dispute with former owner Sacha Gaydamak over whether they have missed a deadline in paying a £9million chunk of the £28million they owe to him.

It is unlikely however that Gaydamak will take any action to push the club towards administration because that would not be in his best interests in terms of reclaiming his debt.

Portsmouth say they expect to pay the players' wages for January "in the next day or two".

This is a nice slow and painful death, only another couple of nails to go, then you can take the Cr8p out to the Solent for a burial at Sea with the smelly fish.

August seems such a long time ago when the mutants wore their tea towels on their heads and sung about having loads of money along with the "is this the way........ we sent the sc......... down" No one was bemoaning the F.A'S fit and proper persons test then, they had new multi-zillionaire owners.
remember the jokes; lovely and warm in pompey, -10 in southampton, oh how they laughed.

This just keeps on getting better and better.

Nice and warm in Southampton, we have spent more money on players than most Premiership sides, while Skates cant even pay their cleaners, that Thunder Clowd is getting Blacker & Blacker every day, not like their tax bill that is getting Redder & Redder by the day Bye Bye Skatesville R.I.P

Ah the warm healthy glow of revenge, oh how they mocked, gloated and abused, well thats the thing with the "few" absolutely no foresight at all. In our time of turmoil we lived in hope, we had assests, and a large fan base, they have nothing(literally) and all hope is lost, every day their collective agony gets worse. Gaydamak is now their L*we, he will end up losing every penny in them, and we continue to laugh last and certainly longest, so looking forward to the 13th, waving goodbye with notes, perfect revenge. Goodbye fiddling few, you so wont be missed. Saints Forever!!

A friend of mine was recently in Dubai, and talked to a Skate living out there that he knows. The fella said that hardly anyone has heard of Al Fahim, and those that had say he has no money. He is merely a front for some Israeli businessmen who are owed money by the Gaydamarks. They plan on never paying for the club, go into administration, and hit the Gaydamarks pocket. They have also sold the Fratton Park land to a different company, so when they fold, it cannot be repossessed and will be sold for development.

Only a rumour, but came from a Skate who is adament that it is true. What a difference 6 months can make!
COYR.

Why oh why doesnt someone pull the rug? They shoot horses dont they? Mind you if they can hold on till the end of the season and then go into administration they would drop into the championship with -10 points ,or hopefully more and we could all have another fun year.

Can anyone remember the cut off date for getting the -10 point penalty this season or next?
Is it the end of March?
The longer they struggle to survive, the closer they come to taking the penalty next season and not this.
Anymore on the rumour that the Magniers were interested in them?
Can't see it myself as they are at the top of the tree in racing circles, surrounded by quality facilities.
Why oh why would they be interested in buying a wooden shack.
They wouldn't even keep their horses in it.

All this talk about what is happening down the road shows that we are all sinking to the same level as the Pompey fans did when we were in the same predicament last year. We are better than this and most of their fans don't deserve it.

We have to play them in a couple of weeks and just because their problems off the pitch make them easy prey. They are still more than capable of showing us up on the pitch. Then it will be us taking it from them again.

Let's be careful of what we wish on them, it may come back and bite us.

Just been on The News website, just to enquire how our two-toed, web-footed friends are getting on and all I got was abuse! Honestly, you'd think by now they'd be able to take a joke!
You have to admire their optimism, the ground is a Cow-Shed, they train down the road and get their scran from "Just Rolls!" They are brassic with every man and his dog after them for monies owed, and the only one of them who can score is Avram with a PFC groupie!
I do hope they are still in business when the 13th comes around, it will be a blessing for us to ram home the final nail in that basket case of a club!
So, onwards and upwards, and if you are reading this General Baldrick then yes the clock is ticking! COYR! :oD
