FORMER Saints striker James Beattie faces a return to England in the Champions League.
Beattie joined Scottish champions Rangers from Stoke City during the summer.
And Walter Smith's men have been drawn in Group C along with Premier League runner's-up United in today's draw in Monaco.
Valencia and Buraspor are the other two sides in the group.
Two former Saints will also be in Champions League action this season with Spurs.
Peter Crouch fired a hat-trick in Spurs' 4-0 qualifying win over Young Boys last night.
In-form Gareth Bale played a key role in the victory, setting up all four goals for ex-Saints boss Harry Redknapp's side at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham will face reigning champions Inter Milan, Werder Bremen and FC Twente in Group A.
Premier League champions Chelsea have been drawn to face Marseille, Spartak Moscow and MSK Zilina in Group F of the Champions League.
Arsenal have been drawn to face Shakhtar Donetsk, Braga and Partizan Belgrade in Group H of the Champions League.
