THE gap between AFC Totton and Southern Premier leaders Brackley is now four points following the Stags’ uneventful 0-0 draw at struggling Swindon Supermarine last night.

Totton still have two games in hand but, with a tough assignment at third-placed Cambridge City coming up on Saturday, they would have liked the cushion of a midweek victory.

After a shocking first half playing into strong wind and rain, Totton upped their game after the break with Jono Davies lively down the right.

Their best chance came when Nathaniel Sherborne did well to keep the ball in on the byline and lay it back to Ryan Moss, but his shot was deflected past the post.

At the other end Forest Green loan keeper James Bittner had little to do on his debut.

Supermarine had Tom Cole sent off for a second yellow on 90 minutes.

“It wasn’t good at all. The pitch was rubbish and we had a lot of players off their game,” said Totton boss Stuart Ritchie.

“But these are the sort of games you can easily lose and at least we got a point and kept a clean sheet.”

*Winchester City surged nine points clear at the Sydenhams Premier summit by beating Lymington Town 6-2.

Two goals in as many minutes by Charlie Smeeton and Leigh Mills set City on their way before the two Whites – Jamie and Andrew – made it 4-0.

Chris Onoufriou pulled one back from a Danny Cox corner, but Andrew White and Alex Przespolewski fired City well clear before Lymington’s Jack Igglesden followed up after Cox’s free kick had hit the bar.
