AFC Totton are hoping to complete the signing of AFC Bournemouth teenager Baily Cargill in time for Saturday's FA Trophy tie at Forest Green Rovers.
Defender Ross Bottomley is unavailable for the big game against the Blue Square Premier high-fliers following his sending off against Basingstoke Town in the last round.
Bottomley is not the only Stags defender with a forthcoming suspension so Totton are hoping to sign Cargill, a talented left-back from Eastleigh, on a month’s loan.
Totton manager Steve Riley said: “Ross is a powerful player and will be a big miss but it’s an opportunity for someone else and we’re hoping to strengthen by bringing in Baily Cargill.
“He’s a young lad with a good engine and a very good delivery.”
