AFC TOTTON’S dismal end to the Southern One South & West season continues.

Tonight’s 2-1 loss to Wimborne Town made it seven defeats on the bounce for Steve Hollick’s men, who have not won for more than five weeks.

After Saturday's truly dreadful 5-1 reverse again Swindon Supermarine, the Stags had been looking to finish their home programme on a high, but it was not to be.

The early stages belonged to the goalkeepers with Totton’s Steve Mowthorpe making a double save from James Stokoe and Billy Maybury before Dylan Knight brought the best out of AFC Bournemouth loanee Pat O'Flaherty at the other end.

Stokoe opened the scoring on 58 minutes, heading home Ryan Murray’s cross, but Totton looked to have salvaged a point when Dave Allen set up Mike Gosney's 89th-minute leveller.

Wimborne weren’t finished, however, and their late pressure paid off when Stokoe netted the winner off the underside of the crossbar.

The Stags have one last game to salvage some pride away at Mangotsfield United on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Cinderford Town were crowned South & West champions with a 2-0 win over Taunton Town.

Taunton must take their chances in play-offs along with Banbury United, Swindon Supermarine and, hopefully, Winchester City who need one more point to finish fifth.

Ideally they will get it at Slimbridge tomorrow (Wednesday). If not it will go to the last day with Winchester at Shortwood and Evesham – three points adrift of City with a superior goal difference of three – away to Marlow.

Ex-Saint Jamie White scored twice for Sydenhams Premier champions Salisbury last night, but it was only good enough for a 2-2 home draw with Moneyfields.

Lewis Benson netted four as Andover Town went second with a 6-1 slaying of lowly Alresford.

Jason Parrish grabbed AFC Portchester’s late winner in a 2-1 Creekside derby win at Fareham after Town’s Dale Clarke had cancelled out Geoff Dunn’s opener.

On Monday night Lymington Town triumphed 2-1 at sixth-placed Team Solent (Ellis White) thanks to goals from Darren Ritchie and Zac Mouland.
