AFC TOTTON will again be without striker Mark Gamble for their final game of a frustratingly inconsistent Southern One South & West campaign.

The Stags travel to Mangotsfield United on Saturday looking to salvage some pride after a calamitous run of seven straight defeats that has left them 15th in the table.

But Gamble, who signed an 18-month contract after arriving from Wimborne Town in January, will again be missing due to ankle problems.

Prior to joining the Stags, Gamble - a prolific Southern League scorer for Bashley and Wimborne - had spent three months sidelined with two displaced foot bones and ankle ligament damage and has yet to get back to his sharpshooting best.

“Mark’s been for a scan and he needs a clean-out operation in the summer,” Hollick confirmed.

“It’s nothing sinister, but he’s been advised to rest it completely and we don’t want to aggravate it.

“It’s a shame that someone of his quality has had to write off this season because of a bad injury. But I’m sure that after a good pre-season he will come back as sharp and lethal as he’s always been.”

Another of Totton’s ex-Wimborne contingent, Ian Oliver, has been struggling with a groin niggle, while fellow defender Liam Hibberd has a slight back pull.

“We’ve had to change the personnel a bit due to injuries, but hopefully we can finish the season well at Mangotsfield – it just depends what side turns up,” said Hollick.

“Inconsistency has been our problem all season. We've scored plenty of goals (72) but conceded 80.

"It's been a steep learning curve for me personally and for the club in general."
