AFC TOTTON are still searching for their first league win under new boss Louis Langdown.

After summoning up a resolute defensive display in Saturday’s 0-0 stalemate at Bideford, the Stags conceded early in this evening's 3-1 home defeat to Taunton Town.

The result keeps them third-to-bottom of the Southern One South & West going into another home game against Paulton Rovers this weekend.

With just two minutes gone Taunton’s Matt Wright struck from a flicked-on corner and, come the midway point of the first-half, the Peacocks were 2-0 up courtesy of Jordan Rogers’ free-kick.

On a night of set-pieces, Dave Allen pulled one back for Totton with a 74th-minute header from Mike Gosney’s corner, but any hope of a home comeback was sunk when Wright struck again to secure Taunton their fifth win in a row.

Holders Team Solent are through to the third round of the Sydenhams League Cup…but only just.

Having seized a 26th-minute lead with some fine individual skill from Jesse-Waller Lassen, the Students were pegged back by a Lewis Clarke equaliser in first-half stoppage time at Portland United.

Not for the first time this season, Solent boss James Taylor had to play in goal. He had a busy time of it, making some crucial second-half saves to take the tie to a penalty shootout which the Students won 4-2.

Alresford Town climbed to ninth in the Sydenhams Premier Division with a 2-1 victory at Bournemouth Poppies.

Lukas McCartney and Chris Mason struck from first-half corners to earn the upwardly mobile Magpies a fourth successive league win and stretch their unbeaten Wessex run to seven games.

Sholing’s interest in the Russell Cotes Cup is over.

Dave Diaper’s men came back from behind to level through Dan Mason at Bemerton Heath, but conceded again on 83 minutes to exit 2-1 at the second round stage.

Bemerton now face an away quarter-final at Craig Davis’s Fleet Town who eclipsed Whitchurch United 3-1.

Justin Bennett’s late winner secured Salisbury a 2-1 quarter-final win over Amesbury Town in the Wiltshire Senior Cup.

Tyler Brockway’s sixth-minute opener for Wessex underdogs Amesbury had been chalked off by Tom Whelan’s fine run and finish.
