AFC TOTTON get the rare opportunity to pull off a season’s double at Paulton Rovers on Saturday having beaten the Somerset outfit 1-0 at the Testwood Stadium last month.

But for manager Louis Langdown, the trip is all about putting more daylight between the Stags and the Southern One South & West bottom two.

With cellar-dwellers Bridgwater away at Salisbury and second-to-bottom Wantage facing a daunting test at form side Taunton, the opportunity is there for Totton to plump up the eight-point cushion separating them from the relegation zone.

They missed a just to do just that last Saturday, squandering chances galore in a 1-1 home draw against Barnstaple.

“The bottom two both have tough games and ultimately we want to take advantage. We’ve got to take care of business,” said Langdown.

“We need a win for our own sanity. We’ve been performing okay, but we’re not getting the wins.

“Our belief is strong, but a win helps confidence.

“Sometimes it’s good to play away from home when the pressure is not on you to keep the ball as much.

“Maybe we’ll play ugly tomorrow and win.”

Totton are hoping that gritty midfielder Neil Williams will have recovered from bronchitis in time to play.

AFC Bournemouth work experience forward Curtis Young is fit to rejoin the squad after a promising debut off the bench at Taunton, and the Stags have completed the loan signing of wing-back/centre half Harry Medway from Havant & Waterlooville for the rest of the season.

He replaces midfielder Marley Ridge who has been recalled by the Hawks.

Defender Sam Roberts will not travel to Winterfield Road having picked up a hamstring problem in training.

Totton's postponed Hampshire FA Senior Cup quarter-final at Hartley Wintney has been rearranged for this coming Tuesday (January 24, 7.45pm).
