AFC TOTTON’s new goalkeeper Pat O’Flaherty will not face his former club Wimborne Town at Cuthbury on Saturday

The AFC Bournemouth under-21s stopper was signed by Totton on loan from the Cherries on transfer deadline day.

But the Stags’ other loanee 'keeper, Charlie Searle, remains with the club until the end of this month and will retain the gloves until the home game against Didcot Town on February 25th.

Stags boss Louis Langdown explained: “Charlie’s permitted 93-day loan from Havant & Waterlooville isn’t up until the end of the month but, because of the transfer regulations regarding Bournemouth, we had to get the deal done for Pat.

“Pat’s been with Wimborne on loan before but he won’t play against them on Saturday and I don’t want to take a Bournemouth under-21 to sit on the bench.

“We’ve got the Hampshire Senior Cup quarter-final coming up at Hartley Wintney on Tuesday (February 7) and Charlie will play in that, so there’s no point playing Pat on Saturday.

“We might as well keep Charlie in goal – and he deserves it after keeping a clean sheet last week.”

Searle’s shut-out was one of the many plus points of Totton's 2-0 home win over Shortwood United – and Langdown is hoping for more of the same against Matty Holmes's Wimborne.

“We’ve had two good home performances (including a 1-1 draw with Barnstaple) and it really should have been six points instead of four,” said Langdown.

“We’ll arrive at Wimborne with some confidence and we’ll see if we can replicate what we did last Saturday and pick up something there.

“We know Wimborne like to get the ball down and play, so we’re not going to get out-muscled.

"It will be two passing teams and two sets of players who know each other well – and hopefully we’ll come out on top."

Totton, now 11 points clear of the Southern One South & West bottom two, are without defender Sam Roberts and winger Nick Watts who both have hamstring trouble.

Defender Tyler Cordner - another of their growing collection of Cherries starlets - should be fit back available after an ankle problem.
