NICK Watts, Ashley Jarvis and Jack Vallis have left AFC Totton amid cost-cutting measures at the Testwood Stadium.

Central defender Vallis has signed Wessex forms for Sydenhams One outfit Shaftesbury, while ex-Sholing winger Watts is in talks with Totton’s Southern One South & West rivals Winchester City.

Forward Jarvis has also ended his time with the Stags after cuts to the wage bill.

With Mike Gosney currently unavailable, it means an already young Totton side will be even more youthful at home to Didcot Town on Saturday.

Manager Louis Landown said: “It leaves us short on experience and without our two top scorers, Gos and Wattsy, albeit that they’ve only got eight and seven.

“But it is what it is and we have to adapt.

“We’ve brought midfielder Liam Kimber in as an extra body from Fareham Town and we’ll make one or two more additions to help offset the losses.

“It’s unrealistic to expect our under-18s to play week in, week out and we’ve already got six under-21s in the first team. Any more would be a bridge too far.”

Totton gave their survival hopes a giant shot in the arm last weekend with a precious 3-1 win at Yate, pulling them 11 points clear of the bottom two.

Saturday's opponents Didcot are 14 points above them in 13th spot.

Goalkeeper Charlie Searle will make his last appearance for the Stags  having reached the end of his permitted loan spell from Havant & Waterlooville. AFC Bournemouth youngster Pat O’Flaherty has already been signed up to replace him.

Another of Totton’s young Cherries loanees, centre-back Tyler Cordner, is unlikely to feature again this term due to ankle problems.

“Tyler was injured in training, played one game for us and seemed to come through okay, but the ankle has not settled down,” Langdown explained.

“Bournemouth are going to keep him out for six weeks. He’s one they rate highly and next season’s a big one for him. It’s important to get him right.”
