AFC TOTTON have the rare opportunity to pull off a season’s double in the Southern One South & West on Saturday.

Louis Langdown’s men travel to rock-bottom Bridgwater Town looking to repeat their 2-1 home victory over The Robins on November 5.

The Stags have a full squad to choose from apart, ironically, from the man that scored both goals that day.

Wideman Mike Gosney, the club’s record appearance maker, is now back from holiday but his future at the Testwood Stadium remains in doubt.

He has informed the club that he is no longer enjoying his football and is due to have talks with chairman Wayne Mew.

Langdown said: “There’s still no update on Gos. Wayne wants to speak to him and I can’t pick him if he’s not enjoying his football.

“But we’ve had two weeks without him and we’ve done okay.”

Buoyed by back-to-back wins over Yate and Didcot, Totton had been hoping to make it three in a row at Slimbridge last Saturday.

Heavy rain intervened, however, forcing the match to be postponed. It has been rearranged for Wednesday, March 29 (7.45pm).

“We were a bit disappointed Slimbridge was called off because you want to harness the good things,” said Langdown.

“Slimbridge had come off two good wins against Evesham and Tiverton, but they’d played on a heavy pitch midweek and, with the effort they’d put in that night, we might just have caught them.

“People will look at Saturday's game and think it’s a great one to have with Bridgwater being bottom, but Slimbridge beat two top-four sides, so you never know.

“Hopefully it’s the right time to do a double.”
