AFC TOTTON have been quick off the mark making their first summer signing.

Stags boss Louis Langdown has swooped for goalkeeper Shane Murphy from Southern Premier Division outfit Dorchester Town.

Murphy, who played every league fixture for the Magpies last season, comes with impressive credentials having been on AFC Bournemouth’s books.

Langdown, former head of sports science with the Cherries, said: “Shane has been coached by one of the best in Neil Moss (AFC Bournemouth goalkeeping coach) and, while I was at AFCBournemouth, it was Shane’s professionalism and attitude to training that stood out.

“As a scholar Shane trained with the first team and I got to see him in game-related practice and he held his own.

“Shane is an excellent goalkeeper, a good character on and off the pitch and we are delighted to have him commit to AFC Totton.”

Having worked wonders to keep Totton in the Southern One South & West, Langdown is looking to push on next season.

Welcoming goalkeeper Murphy into the fold, a club statement said: “This is a fantastic show of intent from Louis and his staff as they go about building a competitive team for the new season.

“To get a ’keeper that has just finished playing the entire season for a team that operate in a higher division is a massive coup for us.”
