AFC TOTTON’S FA Youth Cup run was brought to a grinding halt by Cheltenham Town last night.

The Stags under-18s were swept aside 9-0 at the Total Branding Stadium with George Lloyd scoring a staggering EIGHT goals for the young Robins. The other came from Ollie Hunt.

Malc Callaway’s Totton were up against it from the word go with Lloyd opening his account eight minutes in.

Come half-time Lloyd had made it 3-0 and his personal tally had risen to six by the time Hunt headed home a right-wing cross for 7-0.

Lloyd - a second-year scholar who has already appeared for Cheltenham’s first team in the Checkatrade Trophy - maintained his hunger throughout, scoring his eighth and the Robins’ ninth after 86 minutes.

Totton, though, might have had the last word when they were awarded a penalty on 88 minutes. Mitchell Wood stepped up to take it, but his effort clipped the top of the crossbar.

The young Stags are at home again this Thursday (7.45pm) in the Midweek Floodlit Cup when they entertain Poole Town. There will be free entry to the game.
