AFC Totton skipper and player-of-the-season Carl Pettefer has committed his future to the Evo-Stik Southern Premier club.

The popular 31-year-old, who is believed to have been interesting ex-Totton boss Stuart Ritchie at Havant & Waterlooville, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

His contract extension is yet another boost for Ritchie's successor Steve Riley, who has already brought new signings Richard Gillespie, Dave Allen, Luke Whitley and Gareth Barfoot into the Testwood fold.

A delighted Riley said: "Every time I watched Totton last season, Carl impressed me.

"He's an industrious midfielder who passes the ball well and brings the best out of players around him. He's a fans' favourite too."

One player who won't be featuring for the Stags next season is 23-year-old midfielder/defender Nathan Campbell who has signed a one-year deal with Blue Square Bet South outfit Basingstoke Town.

Basingstoke boss Jason Bristow said: "We have seen Nathan play a few times. He is strong in the tackle and should do well in our physical league."
