Totton's league glory makes up for Wembley pain
 |
| Triumphant Totton show off their trophy |
TRIUMPHANT Totton skipper Jamie Austen was all smiles as he finally shed his nearly man' tag.
After becoming the first player in Totton's history to pick up the Sydenhams Premier championship trophy, the 25-year-old Colden Common lad said league glory had "more than made up" for the disappointment of missing out on the FA Vase at Wembley last May.
"When I left Winchester City two years ago I had other clubs to go to, but Totton's ambition from day one has been to win the title and get out of the Wessex League and, as far as I know, we've achieved that now," he said.
"Two months ago the players were told by the club that we couldn't go up, but then it all changed and we were told yes' we could and, fair play to everyone at the club, they've worked their socks off to get the ground ready for promotion."

It was a great day on saturday, its great to see the club finally moving up the leagues. With a town the size of Totton which has grown and grown over the years we should be able attract bigger crowds as time goes on and therefore produce a decent sustainable non league club. I am of the opinion that this club has greater potential than perhaps many people outside Totton realise. Well done AFC Totton!!!

I was their saturday and i was at Wembley last season and to say the club has achieved is an understatement.
Will be back next season for the Southern league and who knows what the future holds.
Totton should be proud of its Football club.

Congratulations to everyone at Totton. Good luck in the Southern League next season. As Win City, Gosport, Andover & Thatcham have found out recently, it's a BIG step up from the Wessex, but it's a great opport6unity for the players and fans to enjoy a higher quality of football.

Watched them this week and they have a good Manager, i think they could be a surprise.
Might have a little flutter on them.

Your correct Bracknell weve got the best Gaffer in this league and above.
Hes our focus and thats a massive strength.
He knows the game and is obvious of the step up but thats his job.
There will be no surprises because we will be told how things will be.

Well done the Stags. You gave us a great day out at Wembley last year and now promotion. Something for the old town to be proud of.
Brings back memories of the heady days of the Hampshire League triumphs!
Hopefully the crowds will increase now, especially as that shower over the River are producing such tripe week in, week out.

How can going to Wembley in front of 27 thousand be a PAIN?
Unreal season considering ,when Winchester [and spending Malones fortunes] were at their best they never came back after the Vase final like Totton have done.
Takes real winners and massive character to bounce back again.Sometimes you get the recognition you deserve but in this case i think it should be SHOUTED FROM THE ROOFTOPS 'WELL DONE AFC TOTTON'.
