Pompey's latest bid to leave Eastleigh
Ex-Saint Martin Crainie training for Pompey
Ex-Saint Martin Crainie training for Pompey

Portsmouth Football Club have announced they are hoping to build a new training ground in Lee-on-the-Solent.

It comes months after the club's plans to build one in Titchfield were thrown out by Fareham Borough Council.

The new 35 acre site comes under Gosport Borough Council, and is located at Cherque Farm, next to the planned Alver Valley Country Park.

The proposals include 10 full-size pitches, two mini pitches, a three-quarter size pitch and an 18,000sq ft building housing changing rooms and other facilities.

Currently the team use just two pitches at the Wellington Sports Ground near Stoneham Lane in Eastleigh.

Pompey have been trying to find a new training ground for some time, as well as repeated attempts to find a location for a new stadium.

Too late somebody nicked them while they were out training for the FA Cup Final.

It's terribly small victories for the red and white tenth of Hampshire these days.

Never mind Lee on Solent. Why don't they go one better and have it "in the Solent." Their last wacky new staduim nearly was so maybe they and Harry will eventually sink together. Up the Bluebirds!

we were going to buy scums training ground out of petty cash but that would have kept them out of administration for another 6 months.
Not bad going, first year of academy status and we finish above you, new training ground, (better than yours), agreed and on the way, new stadium, (bigger and better than yours), agreed and on the way, premier league footie and a cup final to come.

Good luck with that relegation battle.

Don't see that phrase very often " Victories for the red and white" .
How come Shane Warne can play 20/20 in India but never played it for the Hawks???

Ah well, what goes round comes round. At least Saints have got the facilities despite their precarious position. Pompey were there six years ago and history one day might just repeat itself. I somehow don't think they were going to buy Staplewood. That must be a figment of your immagination.

You obviously know very littel about PFC, you have had a new stadium coming for the last 10 years, but still nothing, the one supposed to be built by the sea(that resembles a bed pan) will never get planning permission and as for your training facilities lets just say , will see! Premiership club YES but Division 2 facilities
Posted by: JenniP, Right on top of the new training ground it seems on 4:46pm Tue 22 Apr 08
Interestingly I live in Cherque Farm it looks like I'm going to be driving past the Pompey training ground every day, I'm grinning already.

I did not know Portsmouth had a football club.
Why don't they buy the facilities at Northam, which will soon be going cheap since it is a very small market.

OBJECTIONS WILL STOP TRAINING GROUND, LIKE THE NEW STADIUM.
WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

Who stole what 'chav free zone'? Think the last time I checked Scum players were out on the rob when they are out in Pompey, and then the fans rob the players as well!! LOVELY PLACE TO LIVE!!

Love the jelousy, makes that fact we're on the brink of being crowned FA Cup winners and Scum getting relegated even sweeter!! Face it your inditikit souless ground that you keep bleating on about is one of the main factors to you losing money hand over fist!!! Think I'd rather be in pompey's position thanks!!!

Like so many from your town, you obviously know precious little about football!
Perhaps this is because there is no quality football played in your area!
If you had paid attention at school, and learned to read, or had a radio and a TV, then you would have been aware that
PORTSMOUTH IS THE ONLY CITY ON THE SOUTH COAST TO HAVE A PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL TEAM THAT WILL ALSO BE PLAYING IN THIS SEASON'S FA CUP FINAL!
Sometimes it is better to say nothing, and let people think you are stupid, rather than come on here with a post like that which confirms their suspicions!

For the benefit of my 'regular readers', I would like them to know that I was out of the country yesterday, and the above was Not my comment!
My response to Tony would have been:
How do you know that us Skates are a bunch of shirt lifters? Is it from personal experience? If it is, how can you see what is going on behind your back?
As we Skates believe in the old saying, 'It is better to give than to receive', I trust that you were 'serviced with a smile'!
'cheers GEORGOUS' (Whatever that word means) is not my style!

Hello sailor,
I did know that you lot play a form of football and that you still believe in tribal areas, but I was simply stating my surprise that you are civilised enough in Portsmouth to have actually formed a club.
I must admit, it is very nice to see an underdog team for once having a crack at the Cup.

Yes Hal Fulglass, we do play a form of football in Portsmouth, it is called PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL!
This is a type of football, once played in your area, but it's end there was hastened by a couple of Lua Lua goals in a 4 - 1 defeat!
As this will be PORTSMOUTH FC'S FOURTH (REPEAT) FOURTH CUP FINAL, it is rather strange to say that we are having a crack at the cup 'for once'!
Although your club was formed before
PORTSMOUTH FC, THE ONLY PREMIER LEAGUE CLUB ON THE SOUTH COAST, AND THIS YEAR'S CUP FINALISTS, I am quite certain that your club has not made the final on as many occasions!
Maybe it is your age that makes you forget these well known facts, like Premier League football in Portsmouth and their FA Cup final appearances!
What a cute expression you have, regarding our cup chances!
I assume it was copied from a toilet wall, while you were awaiting to earn yourself a few bob!
My nautical experience helps me in many ways, but as I never encountered mentally inadequates in the Royal Navy, I find it most difficult to come to terms with, or even understand the dross that you contribut to this site!
As said previously, it is far better that you say Nothing, and have people think you are stupid, rather than contribute the juvenile nonsense that you do, which confirms their suspicions!
I trust you are on the waiting list for a vacancy at your local 'Home for the Bewildered'!

Dear Sailor,
Calm down, it is only a GAME. Do not give yourself a coronary over it. The comments and baiting has become a tradition between Southampton & Portsmouth. So try not to be so serious.
Anyway, best of luck in the Cup. Everyone likes to see the underdog win.

You are right, everyone likes to see the underdog win, which is why I hope that your lot can get a couple of wins to retain their current league status!
I wonder, if you were a betting man and had to put your cash on the SFC retaining their league status or on PFC to lift the FA Cup, where would you put your cash?
