AFC FAWLEY have a fight on their hands to keep hold of promising teenage centre-half Rob Flooks.
The Southampton-based defender, who is having an outstanding season for the Oilers in the Sydenhams Premier Division, is wanted by Blue Square Bet South outfit Eastleigh.
Fawley boss Colin Lane wouldn’t dream of standing in the way of Flooks stepping up the ladder, so long as it benefits his career.
“If Eastleigh are going to give him a contract and money, he’s got to take it,” said Lane. “But if it’s playing for the reserves, he might as well stay with us.
“Rob will go higher, but he’s already had two years in Totton’s reserves and a year at Sholing and he needs a full season in the Wessex.
“I’ve spoken to Rob’s dad and I know the lad enjoys playing for Fawley but, that said, I wouldn’t want to stop a player progressing.”
