NEW signing Richard Pacquette will have to wait until Saturday’s Blue Square Bet South trip to Weston-super-Mare to make his Eastleigh debut.

The Spitfires had hoped to unleash the 29-year-old Dominican international on Billericay Town on Saturday but, following a 9.30am inspection at the Silverlake Stadium, the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Eastleigh made their move for Pacquette, signed on a free transfer from Bromley, after pulling out of the race for young Aldershot Town striker Reece Connolly.

Having scored nine goals during a successful loan spell at Farnborough, the 20-year-old has joined the Cherrywood Road outfit permanently for an undisclosed fee after an unnamed party put up the funds.

Farnborough, though, drew a blank on Saturday, beaten 3-0 at home by Boreham Wood with manager Spencer Day confessing: “We couldn’t buy a goal.”

Eastleigh’s delayed home game against Truro City, already been postponed three times, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 22.

The following midweek (January 29) Richard Hill’s Spitfires – the competition holders – will play a young AFC Bournemouth side in the Hampshire FA Senior Cup quarter-final at New Milton Town FC.
